If you believed you were experiencing the pinnacle of technical prowess with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PS5 Pro, it might be best for you to avert your eyes. Square Enix has unveiled a new trailer, exclusively for PC, highlighting that this RPG can surpass what’s available on Sony’s enhanced console. This includes running at 4K resolution and up to 120 frames-per-second (assuming you have a powerful enough computer).
On the PlayStation 5 Pro, you can enjoy Final Fantasy VII Rebirth at its best performance of 60 frames per second. However, advanced PC systems have the potential to double this frame rate. Sony’s PSSR upscaling technology enhances the graphics on the PS5 Pro, emulating a unique approach compared to the NVIDIA DLSS technology that will be available with the PC version of Rebirth. The PC edition offers three graphical presets, but you can personalize the visuals more extensively than on the PS5 Pro by toggling settings and adjusting the number of non-player characters visible on screen.

Experiencing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on the upgraded PlayStation 5 Pro, we noticed that it appears significantly enhanced. The game maintains its crucial 60fps frame rate while boosting the resolution to what seems like 4K, or roughly that level. This transformation is strikingly noticeable when contrasted with the performance mode on PS5.
Despite the PS5 Pro being relatively new, there’s always going to be technology emerging that can take gaming a step further than what consoles are capable of. For instance, NVIDIA has recently unveiled their GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards, which could potentially work seamlessly with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. However, it comes at a price tag of $1,999.
