PS5 Pro Supports VRR and 8K Gaming, Game Boost for Over 8,500 PS4 Titles

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, the announcement of the PlayStation 5 Pro has sent a thrill through my gaming veins! The prospect of 8K gaming, Variable Refresh Rate, and Wi-Fi 7 is nothing short of exhilarating. But what truly gets me pumped are the performance improvements for over 8,500 backwards-compatible PS4 titles!


The confirmed reality of the PlayStation 5 Pro is its global launch on November 7th. In a recent blog post by Sony, details about the improved console’s new capabilities have been shared. These include support for Variable Refresh Rate and 8K gaming, as well as Wi-Fi 7 technology. What’s particularly intriguing, however, is the PS5 Pro Game Boost feature.

The system is compatible with over 8,500 PlayStation 4 games in a backwards-compatible manner, providing performance upgrades and some games experiencing enhanced visual quality. Also, existing PlayStation 5 games will receive free updates to utilize the Pro’s unique features. Labeled as “PS5 Pro Enhanced,” these titles are:

  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows
  • Demon’s Souls
  • Dragon’s Dogma 2
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
  • Gran Turismo 7
  • Hogwarts Legacy
  • Horizon Forbidden West
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  • Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
  • The Crew Motorfest
  • The First Descendant
  • The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered

The pre-ordering of the console commences on September 26th at specific retailers and online via PlayStation Direct. This console boasts advanced ray tracing, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution for improved image clarity, and swifter GPU rendering with additional Compute Units; however, these features will only be applicable to upgraded PS5 games.
