The prospect of cross-save between the PS5 and PS4 editions of the game Vampire Survivors hinges on a single technicality, as developer Poncle encounters an unexplained legal hurdle.
In the upcoming April update for the game, a new function is planned that enables smooth transition of your game progress across various devices such as PC, Xbox, and mobile devices.
But a last-minute snag means the option is looking increasingly unlikely on PlayStation.
According to the studio, it’s highly unlikely that cross-save will arrive on PlayStation consoles at this point, but there’s still a tiny chance, so we’ll continue collaborating with PlayStation to tackle these issues. (Communicated on Threads)
I apologize for any excitement we may have stirred about this PlayStation feature. Unfortunately, our plans have had to change at the last moment.
For those who own a PlayStation 5 or 4, there’s a bit of comforting news: even if you had transferred your save files, the trophies would not have been unlocked automatically.
The team explained that if you use a save file from a different platform, PlayStation Trophies will be deactivated across all games on your current platform.
It’s possible some games allow for cross-platform saves, so we’re curious about the specific challenge at hand. Fingers crossed that Poncle will find a solution to this eventually.
