PS5 Update Lets You Add Old-School PlayStation Sound FX and Designs to Home Screen

As a seasoned gamer who has witnessed the evolution of PlayStation since its humble beginnings, I can’t help but feel a wave of nostalgia wash over me with this latest update for my beloved PS5. The return of the original PS1 boot-up screen and sounds is like a trip down memory lane, reminding me of countless hours spent conquering virtual worlds as a young lad.

Tomorrow marks the 30th anniversary of the iconic Sony PlayStation brand, and an exciting update for PS5 users is now available! As shared by Tom Warren on Twitter, this update brings a blast from the past with a start-up screen reminiscent of the original PlayStation console, featuring the classic Sony Computer Entertainment logo (which evolved into Sony Interactive Entertainment and later PlayStation Studios).

Additionally, you can customize your Home screen by visiting the Settings menu and opting for the PlayStation 30th Anniversary theme. This allows you to adjust the visuals and sounds to resemble classic consoles like the PlayStation One, PS2, PS3, and PS4, even incorporating their distinctive sound effects as you navigate through the menus.

Unfortunately, it appears that this opportunity might be temporary due to its limited availability, so don’t miss out! Additionally, as part of PlayStation’s 30th anniversary celebrations, there may be a release of My First Gran Turismo for both PS4 and PS5. This trial version comes at no cost and allows you to experience a variety of cars and events from Gran Turismo 7. Keep an eye out for any upcoming surprises in the near future!

The latest PS5 update resurrects the initial startup screen and audio of the original PS1 as a tribute to PlayStation’s 30th anniversary. Additionally, you have the option to personalize your home screen using themes and sounds from multiple PlayStation console eras.
