As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming release of the PS5 Pro this November. The prospect of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) taking my gaming experience to new heights is beyond exciting! I remember when we used to dream about such technology back in the days of 8-bit graphics and dial-up internet connections.
Upon the release of the PS5 Pro in November, one captivating innovation it will introduce is Sony’s novel proprietary supersampling technology, named PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). This technology uses artificial intelligence for upscaling, enhancing gameplay quality on the advanced console.
According to a sneak peek from CNET, Mark Cerny, the lead system architect, has hinted that PlayStation State Restoration (PSSR) will also be compatible with PS VR2 games in due time. The exact timeline for when PS5 Pro support will become available for the virtual reality headset is still uncertain. It’s intriguing to speculate whether PSSR will also work when using the device to play PC VR games through its PC adapter.
The new model of PlayStation 5, named PS5 Pro, is scheduled to hit the shelves on November 7. It’s going to sell for $699.99. Upon its release, it will come with around 40-50 games that are specifically enhanced for PS5 Pro. Moreover, it offers support for 8K gaming, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and a 2TB SSD.
