Queen star Brian May recovering after suffering minor stroke: “It was a little scary”

As a film enthusiast with a deep appreciation for the lives and careers of musicians who have made significant contributions to the industry, I can’t help but feel a twinge of concern upon hearing about Sir Brian May’s recent health scare. The legendary Queen guitarist, at 77 years young, continues to be an inspiration not only for his incredible talent on the guitar but also for his unwavering commitment to animal rights and charitable causes.

Known guitarist from Queen, Sir Brian May, has shared that he’s currently on the mend following a small stroke he experienced not too long ago.

As a passionate film aficionado, I recently took to my platform to share some personal news. At 77, I’ve experienced a minor setback – I couldn’t use my left arm for a few days. However, I’m optimistic and eager to report that I’m on the road to recovery! I’m thrilled to say that I can pick up my beloved guitar once more.

“That little health hiccup that I mentioned happened about a week ago, and what they called it was a minor stroke, and all of a sudden — out of the blue – I didn’t have any control over this arm,” he said, adding that it was “a little scary”.

Later, May commended the exceptional care and diligence she encountered at Frimley Hospital, having been transported there by an ambulance with its emergency lights activated.

He stated: “At the moment, I chose not to speak up because I wanted to avoid any unnecessary attention. To be clear, I’m not seeking sympathy. Please refrain from showing it, as it only adds unwanted messages to my inbox – something I dislike greatly!”

Additionally, he clarified that although he seemed fine and merely following orders, medical professionals advised him to take it easy during his recuperation, forbidding him from driving, flying, or engaging in activities that could significantly elevate his heart rate.

“But I’m good,” he reassured fans.

I joined forces with Roger Taylor and the late, great Freddie Mercury back in 1970 to establish Queen, a role I’ve continued to fulfill as their lead guitarist and backing vocalist during our tours. Last year, I was honored with knighthood for my contributions to music and charitable work.

Apart from that, he’s vocally supportive of animal rights and has been at the forefront of a BBC One documentary called “Brian May: The Badgers, the Farmers and Me,” where he delved into his decade-long crusade against the UK badger cull, a topic he further discussed in the video mentioned earlier.
