Queer releases atmospheric trailer starring Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey

As a film connoisseur who has traversed the silver screen landscapes of love stories both classic and contemporary, I must say that the trailer for “Queer” has piqued my interest like no other. With Daniel Craig’s enigmatic charm and Drew Starkey‘s youthful allure at the helm, this adaptation of William S. Burroughs’ novel promises to be a cinematic tour de force.

The first trailer for Daniel Craig’s much-anticipated LGBTQ+ drama Queer has landed.

In this adaptation, the previous James Bond actor assumes the lead role, portraying William Lee – a dispossessed American living in Mexico City who develops an intense affection for a younger individual.

Actor Drew Starkey portrays Eugene Allerton, a past U.S. military man who captures William’s heart, and their characters engage in a deeply emotional and romantic connection.

In 1950, William Lee (portrayed by Craig), an American living in Mexico City, predominantly spends his days in solitude, interacting only occasionally with fellow Americans within their small circle.

For the first time, he finds a glimmer of hope in forming a deep bond, as he meets Eugene Allerton (Starkey), a foreign ex-soldier freshly arrived in the city.

Luca Guadagnino, renowned for films like “Call Me By Your Name” and “A Bigger Splash,” is releasing his newest work titled “Queer.” This film is anticipated to make a strong impact during the upcoming awards season.

Director Luca Guadagnino teams up again with screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes, as well as musicians Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who provided the score for the sensual sports drama and also for this year’s film Bones and All.

Besides Craig and Starkey, the cast of Queer includes actors like Jason Schwartzman, Lesley Manville, Henry Zaga, Drew Droege, Ariel Schulman, David Lowery, and Omar Apollo.

Kuritzkes noted: “Particularly with that book [Burroughs’s Queer], which is renowned due to its legendary author, yet, it’s not the typical kind of book you’d find in movies. It’s unconventional.

Queer is coming to UK cinemas on Friday 13th December 2024.
