Michelle Yeoh is expressing her gratitude.
More recently, the actress known as “Wicked” revealed that at a challenging phase in her profession, she contemplated quitting acting altogether. However, this decision was changed when Quentin Tarantino entered the picture.
Michelle, aged 62, shared that she had been in Hong Kong and was feeling down due to a mishap during a stunt while filming. On The Graham Norton Show, she expressed that this unfortunate event left her feeling helpless and questioning her career in action. She considered taking a break from it all.
At that moment, the star from “Everything Everywhere All At Once” met up with Quentin, who inspired her not to give up on her journey.
In my encounter with Tarantino, his enthusiasm was palpable. He shared a profound thought: “If you truly love something, you must strive to discover a superior approach to it.
Additionally, Michelle mentioned that she and the director of “Pulp Fiction” have yet to collaborate on a project. However, Quentin humorously explained his reasoning for not casting the Academy Award winner in one of his most prominent movies.
Michelle clarified, “When I inquired about ‘Kill Bill’ and why he hadn’t considered me, he replied, ‘People wouldn’t think Uma Thurman could beat you up!’
Fortunately, the actress who later became known for her roles in action films like Supercop, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Tomorrow Never Dies, persisted and eventually won her first Academy Award for Everything Everywhere All at Once in 2023, refusing to give up.
Her victory marked her as the initial Asian female recipient of the prestigious Best Actress accolade, an event she graciously highlighted in her heartfelt acceptance remarks.
On stage during the event, the 60-year-old expressed, “For all those young ones who resemble me in the audience tonight, this is a symbol of hope and potential. It shows that if you dare to dream grandly, your dreams can indeed become reality.
She added, “And ladies don’t let anybody tell you you are ever past your prime. Never give up.”
Michelle didn’t forget to give a heartfelt acknowledgment to the individual who was instrumental in her success.
She declared, ‘This one’s for my mom, as well as every mother out there, who truly embodies superhero strength.’ At 84 years old, I’ll bring it back to her in Malaysia, where she’s currently watching with family and friends. My love goes out to all of you.
