Race against the Covenant in your brand-new Porsche with Forza Halo 5’s latest update — I’m sorry, I meant Forza Horizon 5 (now feat. Steve Vai)

What you need to know

  • The next Forza Horizon 5 update may be called “Track Day,” but there’s an awful lot of Halo going on here.
  • Playground Games has detailed what’s coming in this update, and it includes the biggest single drop of new EventLab props in FH5 history.
  • Players will be able to design their own Halo themed racetracks and maps, and three Halo songs are also joining the soundtrack.
  • If you need to know more than just “there’s Halo now,” this update also drops four modern Porsches into the Festival Playlist.

As a tech enthusiast with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say I’m thrilled about the upcoming Forza Horizon 5: Track Day update. The Halo crossover is not something I expected, but it’s certainly a welcome surprise!

It wasn’t surprising that Playground Games didn’t announce the Halloween-themed Forza Horizon 5 update a day after Halloween, but we’re getting something instead: Forza Horizon 5: Track Day is officially happening, and it starts next week. This update might be the most minimalistic one yet, not in terms of complexity, but because it seems to feature actual Spartans.

In this upcoming Forza Horizon 5 update, you’ll find the largest individual EventLab prop release ever, themed entirely around Halo! Additionally, a fresh Festival Playlist will debut, offering four brand-new reward cards (a hint: they’re all sleek modern Porsches). Lastly, the Oval Track makes its comeback at the Stadium. So, let’s delve into these exciting additions together!

Did you ever want to race a Porsche down a Forerunner highway? Now you can.

I have no intention of prolonging this further. Let me share with you what’s included in the upcoming Forza Horizon 5: Track Day update, set to roll out next week.

  • Four new cars. The Festival Playlist is securing four new reward cars this update, and they all hail from the same manufacturer. There’s no Car Pack DLC this time, but the community should be pretty happy with these additions.
    • 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 R
    • 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS
    • 2023 Porsche 911 Rallye
    • 2023 Porsche 911 Turbo S
  • Brand-new Halo props. The Xbox Game Studios family has come together again with another great collaboration. This time around, Playground Games has added the largest-ever EventLab prop pack to Forza Horizon 5, and every single prop is Halo-themed. There are 71 Halo props in total, letting players design their very own Halo racetracks and maps.
  • A few new songs. The Halo fun doesn’t end there. The Forza Horizon 5 soundtrack is securing three official Halo songs with Halo Theme Gungnir Mix (feat. Steve Vai), Installation 04, and The Trails.
  • The return of the Oval Track. The Stadium is enjoying another Evolving World makeover, and this time the popular Oval Track is returning for another round of high-octane asphalt racing.
  • A new Festival Playlist. As always, Forza Horizon 5: Track Day also features a new, themed Festival Playlist with a ton of rewards, including all four of the Porsches added in this update.

Instead of receiving a large number of new cars to store in our garage, this isn’t a poor selection for an upgrade.

It’s exciting to anticipate the creative feats that the gifted Forza Horizon 5 (FH5) community designers will produce using the fresh Halo props. The EventLab is brimming with one-of-a-kind racetracks and maps, unprecedented in Forza history, promising a thrilling experience.

Although there were just four cars that pulled up, they were all fresh Porsches, which is sure to delight Forza Horizon 5 players who frequently request modern vehicles. Notably, Porsche has been a frequent presence in the Forza series for some time. In summary, the Forza Horizon 5: Track Day update appears robust, and players can continue to enjoy the Horizon Backstage feature introduced in the previous FH5 update.

It appears that Forza Horizon 5: Track Day is expected to launch on November 5 (Tuesday) for both Xbox and Windows PC platforms. However, it’s important to note that the main Festival Playlist will only begin on November 5 (Thursday).
