Randy Moss is sharing a personal update amid his health battle.
Approximately two months after an ESPN commentator had surgery due to a cancer diagnosis, he graced his first significant event at the 2025 NFL Honors, where he presented the Comeback Player of the Year award to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
At the February 6th gathering, I had the pleasure of joining virtually and took the opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation for the tremendous support I’ve been fortunate enough to receive during these times. As a lifetime advocate for wellness and positive living, I believe it’s essential to acknowledge and appreciate those who help us along our journey.
In a heartfelt message, Moss expressed his apologies for being unable to attend in person. He wanted to extend a special gratitude to his dedicated team of doctors, his loving wife Lydia Moss, their daughter Lordes-Randi, and his children Sydney, Thaddeus, Lexi, Montigo, Senali, Sylee, and Lyric from various relationships. He shared that they are battling cancer together, and he eagerly looks forward to returning to television alongside his colleagues.
Speaking about the award he himself received in 2007 with the New England Patriots, Moss (the former Cincinnati Bengals star who retired from the NFL in 2012 after 14 seasons) expressed his excitement. He stated, “It’s a pleasure for me to bestow an honor that I was privileged to receive. There’s no more inspiring tale in the National Football League than one about a player who achieves greatness, overcomes challenges, and eventually returns to the pinnacle of success.
Approximately two months following the NFL player’s revelation about his cancer diagnosis, it was nearly time for his public appearance. He had disclosed earlier that medical tests detected a malignant growth in the area connecting the pancreas and the liver, specifically within the bile duct.
At the specified moment, as Moss clarified, after a six-hour operation, the doctors “discovered it and removed it.” However, they mentioned that further treatment with chemotherapy and radiation was necessary for him.
He stated during his Instagram Live on December 13th that he’s recuperating himself. It will be a challenging journey with chemotherapy and radiation, but as he mentioned, he’s in good spirits. He’s surrounded by his loved ones.
He said, “I never imagined finding myself in such a situation, given how healthy I thought I was. However, things unexpectedly worsened, and I sought the support of my prayer group, asked for my family to be by my side during this challenging period. And let me tell you, they were there for me.
