As a longtime fan of anime and manga, I can’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia mixed with anticipation as I hear about the upcoming remake of Ranma 1/2! Growing up, this series was a staple in my weekly viewing schedule, and its humor, action, and quirky characters left an indelible mark on me. The fact that they’re bringing back some of the original voice cast while also introducing new talent is truly exciting.
As an ardent fan, I can hardly contain my excitement! The iconic “Ranma 1/2” is making its grand return to our screens this fall, promising a fresh take on the beloved series. Not only are we getting a reboot, but it seems the creative team has expanded the cast with some intriguing new character designs.
In the upcoming “Ranma 1/2” anime, many familiar voices from the initial series are set to return to reprise their characters, such as Minami Takayama as Nabiki Tendo and Kikuko Inoue as Kasumi Tendo. However, a change has been made in the voice actor for Soun Tendo, with Akio Otsuka replacing Ryunosuke Ohbayashi this time around. New Ranma 1/2 Remake Release Date
I’m thrilled to share that I can’t wait for the new “Ranma 1/2” anime dropping on October 5th in Japan! The masterful Konosuke Uda is directing this project under MAPPA, with Kimiko Ueno penning the scripts. Hiromi Taniguchi is designing our beloved characters, while Kaoru Wada is composing the music to tie it all together. It’s a delight to learn that familiar voices like Kappei Yamaguchi as Ranma Saotome, Megumi Hayashibara as the female Ranma, Noriko Hidaka as Akane Tendo, Minami Takayama as Nabiki Tendo, Kikuko Inoue as Kasumi Tendo, Koichi Yamadera as Ryoga Hibiki, and Rei Sakuma as Shampoo are returning to bring their charm to this classic anime once more!
In the updated cast, Akio Otsuka takes over from Ryunosuke Ohbayashi as Soun Tendo, while Cho replaces Kenichi Ogata as Genma Saotome. Notably, Kenichi Ogata will now be narrating for the late Tadashi Nakamura. Originally created by Rumiko Takahashi for Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday in 1997, fans can stream the classic Ranma 1/2 anime on platforms like Hulu, Peacock, and Freevee before the new series begins.
MAPPA previews an upcoming anime by revealing, “The Tendo Dojo’s Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo are destined to be married according to their parents. However, Ranma possesses an unusual dilemma… Following his training in China, he accidentally fell into the mystical springs of Jusenkyo. Now, whenever he comes into contact with cold water, he transforms into a girl, and hot water restores him to his male form. Brace yourself for a hilarious, action-packed romantic comedy filled with Ranma, Akane, and an array of eccentric characters!”
