As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I have seen countless instances where fame and fortune can lead to legal troubles. However, it is always disheartening to witness such events unfold, especially when it involves a talented artist like Lil Durk (Durk Devontay Banks).
Lil Durk is facing legal troubles.
As a devoted follower, I’m sharing the news that Durk Devontay Banks, also known as “All My Life” rapper, was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Broward County, Florida on October 24th. The arrest was made due to pending charges of murder for hire, according to police records.
Banks’ arrest comes one week after the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California unsealed an indictment that charged five people with ties to the hip-hop group Only The Family (OTF)—which he founded in 2010—as co-conspirators in the 2022 killing of an individual only named as S.R. in Los Angeles, according to documents obtained by NBC News. However, it’s unclear if Banks’ recent arrest is connected with this case.
Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston were officially accused of various offenses, including conspiring to commit murder-for-hire that led to someone’s death, using interstate facilities for this purpose, illegally carrying and firing firearms and machineguns, as well as possessing these weapons during the commission of a violent crime that resulted in death.
The lawsuit claims that the intended victim of the attack was a person known as “T.B.”, because he was linked to the 2020 murder of another individual named D.B. It so happened that on the same day, various media outlets reported the death of rapper King Von (real name Dayvon Bennett), who was gunned down outside an Atlanta nightclub following a dispute with fellow rapper Quando Rondo (real name Tyquian Terrel Bowman) and his entourage. At that time, police informed NBC News that they believe Mr. Bennett was shot during the initial exchange of gunfire between the two groups of men, before the police arrived to try to halt the shooting.
TopMob News has attempted to contact representatives from banks and Broward County officials, but has not received a response so far. The individuals mentioned in the indictment are currently without legal representation.
Since the controversial death of Bennett in 2020, tensions between the two groups have escalated leading up to the 2022 homicide. The suspect who is said to be linked with Bowman, according to the indictment, was cleared of charges related to Bennett’s death last year.
According to a recently unveiled indictment in the S.R. murder case, a confidant within OTF admitted that they would offer a reward for anyone participating in the murder of T.B., following the death of D.B. In August 2022, assailants fired upon T.B.’s vehicle, carrying him, his sister, and S.R., at a gas station in West Hollywood. Fortunately, T.B. and his sister were unhurt, but their cousin, Lul Pab (Saviay’a Robinson), was fatally injured during the incident as reported by the Chicago Tribune. Remarkably, on the same day of this 2022 shooting, Bowman experienced a similar attack where his cousin, Lul Pab, lost his life.
Investigators claim that the suspects communicated in a secret way about the murder they are charged with, by employing hidden messages instead of direct language. Moreover, they allege that the suspects utilized assets belonging to OTF for orchestrating the alleged event.
According to the indictment dated August 18, 2022, defendant Wilson persuaded defendants Jones and Lindsey to journey to California with the intention of killing T.B. To aid in this plan, Wilson communicated personal information about defendants Jones and Lindsey to Co-Conspirator 3, allowing the latter to arrange flights to Southern California for them.
The prosecution claimed that the suspects communicated in a secret manner about the murder, indicating they’d receive compensation. Additionally, the prosecution suggested that the defendants utilized assets from the Organization for the Transformation of Families (OTF) to orchestrate the incident.
According to the indictment dated August 18, 2022, defendant Wilson arranged for defendants Jones and Lindsey to journey to California with the intent to kill T.B.. To help make this travel possible, Wilson shared personal details about defendants Jones and Lindsey with Co-Conspirator 3, enabling this third party to reserve flight tickets to Southern California.
A month prior to Banks’ arrest, the rapper had conveyed his appreciation for a fresh phase in life and hinted that his legal issues had been resolved. However, it’s important to note that Banks was previously indicted for attempted murder related to a 2019 shooting incident in Atlanta. The charges against him included aggravated assault, involvement in criminal street gang activity, using a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, according to court documents from the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, as reported by Rolling Stone. These charges were dismissed in 2022.
Banks expressed on X (previously Twitter) on September 22nd, “Everyone deserves a fresh start in life.” He added, “It’s all about how you use it.” He shared that his past record has been cleared of all cases, making him no longer a felon. With gratitude, he thanked everyone who supported his vision and pushed it forward. From the depths of his heart, he expressed his sincere thanks.
