The beloved “Rascal Does Not Dream” series is returning with a brand new TV anime installment, and we now have a confirmed release window following the unveiling of a fresh trailer and additional details. Originating from Hajime Kamoshida and Keji Mizoguchi’s light novel series, the TV adaptation of “Rascal Does Not Dream” first graced our screens in 2018 with “Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai.” The show was so well-received that it led to a full-length movie release and two subsequent OVA episodes. Now, we’re thrilled to see the series return for another complete anime run.

Continuing the narrative threads from previous films and shows, “Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus” will carry on adapting the University Arc from its original light novel series. At AnimeJapan 2025, it was announced that the anime titled “Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus” is set to premiere this July as part of the Summer 2025 anime lineup. However, a specific release date and international distribution details are yet to be disclosed at this point in time. The debut trailer unveiled the opening theme for the first time, which is “Snowdrop” by Conton Candy. Moreover, Kaito Ishikawa and Asami Seto will reprise their roles as older versions of Sakuta Azusugawa and Mai Sakurajima in the upcoming series, respectively.

In the upcoming anime titled “Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus“, Reina Ueda takes on the role of the enigmatic “Miniskirt Santa”, while Sora Amamiya portrays Uzuki Hirokawa, Aya Yamane voices Ikumi Akagi, Konomi Kohara lends her voice to Sara Himeji, Manaka Iwami plays Miori Mito, and Inori Minase is Shoko Makinohara. Soichi Matsui, who has previously worked on “Rascal Does Not Dream” anime releases, will be directing “Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus” for CloverWorks. Masahiro Yokotani is in charge of the series composition, Satomi Tamura resumes her role in overseeing character designs, and fox capture plan is responsible for composing the music.

In the thirteenth volume of the original light novel series, titled “Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus“, represents a smaller storyline set within the larger University arc. If this upcoming season airs in the Summer 2025 schedule, there’s a possibility that Sakuta might find himself entangled in more Puberty Syndrome escapades after such a long time. The upcoming anime is hinted at by Aniplex as follows: “Having encountered numerous girls experiencing Puberty Syndrome, Sakuta Azusagawa has now graduated from high school and enrolled at a university in Kanazawa-hakkei, where he will continue his studies alongside his girlfriend Mai Sakurajima, a renowned actress.

The story moves forward as he discovers a Santa in an off-season miniskirt off campus who claims to bestow Puberty Syndrome upon people. When he says, “I’m surprised. So, you can see me,” it sounds familiar to him. This Santa introduces herself as Toko Kirishima, a figure linked to precognitive dreams, an anonymous online singer, and social media poltergeists.
