It’s possible that Ubisoft is planning to revive the popular Rayman series with a new high-quality game, as suggested by job postings on their website. These job openings were for roles in games under the “Rayman” brand and included positions like a 3D gameplay animator and a senior game designer, as discovered and shared by Reddit users.
Ubisoft removed the job postings, hinting they may have been published prematurely. Yet, you can find them both online via the Internet Archive. Moreover, these listings suggest that the upcoming Rayman game will be developed in Ubisoft Milan.
Ubisoft Milan is seeking a skilled Senior Game Designer to work on the Rayman franchise. The perfect candidate should have substantial experience in game design within the video game industry, with a deep understanding of designing, prototyping, and implementing game systems that align with the project’s objectives and adhere to the overall game direction. They must be able to create engaging and enjoyable gameplay experiences while maintaining accessibility.
Although both job postings are for a AAA Rayman game, they don’t provide any additional information about the type of game it might be. One of the listings is for a 3D gameplay animator, suggesting that the game may not be a 2D sidescroller like Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. Additionally, the title could possibly resemble the style of games such as Mario + Rabbids.
In October, Ubisoft hinted at a potential comeback for the beloved Rayman series. The company revealed that their studios based in Montpellier and Milan would lead the project, with development still in its initial stages. The creator of the Rayman franchise, Michel Ancel, is also rumored to be on board as a consultant to maintain the universe’s authenticity.
Since the release of Rayman Legends in 2013, Ubisoft has kept relatively silent about the Rayman franchise. However, whispers from as far back as 2024 suggested that a remake of a Rayman game could be under development at their studio in Milan. If these rumors are true, it seems that the project is being handled by a team within Ubisoft who also worked on Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
It’s been suggested that by January 2025, over 1.3 million copies of “Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown” had been sold, and Ubisoft has verified they have more than 2 million players. There are also rumors that the game’s creators proposed a sequel to Ubisoft, but it was turned down. Reports claim this was due to concerns about short-term sales for “Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown” potentially eating into each other’s profits.
