In the game “Ready or Not,” developers have allowed players to restore any content previously censored. This hardcore mainstream video game puts you in the shoes of a SWAT team, tasked with clearing out strange houses, warehouses, and more. The game features hostage situations, intense gunfights, and high stakes as you decide whether or not suspects pose a threat. The objective is to portray the challenging realities faced by SWAT agents, including issues like human trafficking, crimes against children, and tragic events such as school shootings.
The game Ready or Not, appreciated by its players for its boldness and lack of hesitation in tackling controversial topics, is set to launch on consoles this month. However, certain elements may not align with the expectations of platform holders like Xbox and PlayStation, who allow a fair amount of graphic content. While they accommodate violent games, explicit content such as nudity, gore, and intense scenes aren’t entirely acceptable. Therefore, to ensure the console release, some adjustments had to be made to the content in Ready or Not.
In essence, all missions within the game remain unchanged, but there have been minor adjustments made to accommodate platform policies. These tweaks affect certain collectible items and character details. This modification isn’t exclusive to console versions of “Ready or Not,” but also extends to the PC version for consistency across platforms. The aim is to eliminate potential issues that could arise from different game versions, particularly when it comes to multiplayer functionality.
Ready or Not Developer Lets Players Mod Censored Content Back In
In a recent update, VOID Interactive, creators of the game “Ready or Not”, outlined modifications to its content censorship policies. Although these changes aren’t drastic, they’ve sparked significant backlash from some fans. In response to this, some disgruntled players have resorted to review-bombing the game. However, a developer for the game mentioned on Discord that players can modify the content themselves if they prefer. This choice comes with potential responsibility for any performance issues or bugs that may arise from modifying the game, but it does provide an option for those who are unhappy with the changes.
It’s uncertain if this move will satisfy fans of “Ready or Not”. Since dedicated followers of the game on consoles are familiar with the behind-the-scenes drama, they might not care much about it because they never had access to the uncensored version in the first place. Regardless, it’s commendable that VOID Interactive is striving to strike a balance between pleasing their fans and expanding the game to new platforms. Unfortunately, these modifications will only be accessible on PC, which means console players will continue to play the censored version of the game.
On July 15th, Ready or Not is set to launch for both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Will you be picking up the game on your console? Share your thoughts below!
