Ready or Not Star Confirms She's "All In" on Upcoming Sequel (Exclusive)

As a die-hard fan of horror comedies who has seen more slasher flicks than I care to admit, the announcement of a sequel for “Ready or Not” has me jumping for joy! Samara Weaving’s electrifying performance as Grace Le Domas was a breath of fresh air in the genre and left fans craving more. The open-ended finale of the first film left us all guessing what would happen next, and hearing that the cast is “all in” has me on the edge of my seat!

In the genre of horror-comedy, the film “Ready or Not” was a big success with its target audience, providing rising star Samara Weaving with her breakout moment. The film’s enigmatic ending and tantalizing hints at mythology within the storyline have left fans speculating about potential sequels that might delve deeper into this universe. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that a sequel is in the works, and while it was presumed that Weaving would reprise her role, she herself has expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming project. As of now, “Ready or Not 2” doesn’t have a scheduled release date, but you can catch Weaving next in “Azrael,” which will be shown in select theaters on September 27th and will become available on Shudder on October 25th.

During a conversation with ComicBook about Azrael, when asked about the progress of the Ready or Not sequel, Weaving expressed, “I’m fully committed. I believe everyone is on board, though I’m not certain. I think we’re all in, but I’m not sure if we’ve sealed the deal with a formal agreement yet. However, we’ve made a verbal commitment, but we haven’t taken it to the level of exchanging blood oaths.

Concerning the timeline for progressing with the project, Weaving quipped, “I’ve just arrived home; I have a few phone calls to make first.

In my gaming world, I was Grace, the bride who found myself thrust into a lethal game of hide-and-seek on my wedding night, all thanks to an eerie family tradition. This chilling tale was masterfully crafted by directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, renowned for their work on “Scream”, “Scream VI”, and “Abigail”. It’s said that Adam Robitel will be taking the helm for the next chapter.

Fortunately, Grace managed to make it through the ordeal, albeit tragically so for her in-laws who perished in gruesome blood explosions. In the year 2019, Weaving hinted that she anticipated the authorities might find it hard to believe her when they arrived to investigate the fate of the wealthy family.

“I wonder what happens afterwards. Does she go to jail? Does she go to an asylum for psychiatric help? Does she inherit everything? I don’t know,” Weaving had revealed to ComicBook. “Or the police would say that she did it on purpose. I don’t know … Sitting in a jail cell for 90 minutes, just going insane.”

In anticipation for news about the sequel of “Ready or Not“, enthusiasts might want to explore another action-packed, gory tale in “Azrael“.

In a silent world, a secretive, pious group pursues a woman named Azrael (Samara Weaving), who has managed to break free from their confinement. Caught by its merciless leaders once more, she is destined for sacrifice to appease an evil lurking in the wilderness nearby. However, Azrael is determined to secure her freedom and life at any cost. This intense, unyielding narrative of sacrifice and redemption gives rise to a gripping, real-time action horror story conceived by the imaginative minds of Simon Barrett and E.L. Katz.

Keep an eye out for news regarding the next installment of “Ready or Not”. The movie “Azrael” will be showing in selected cinemas starting from September 27th, while it will be available on Shudder from October 25th.
