Real Housewives of London confirmed for 2025 from Made in Chelsea producers

As someone who has spent countless hours binge-watching reality TV shows, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the announcement of The Real Housewives of London! Growing up in the bustling city myself, I’ve always been captivated by the glamour, drama, and the never-ending supply of tea (and gossip) that seems to emanate from the high-society circles.

It’s officially been announced that the popular reality show franchise “Real Housewives” will expand to London next year, bringing with it numerous memorable moments and recognizable figures from the world of television.

The Real Housewives of London was confirmed as a surprise announcement at the first ever Hayu FanFest that took place in the English capital last night (Saturday 26th October).

The upcoming series marks Hayu’s first original production, with Monkey, the team behind the popular E4 show “Made in Chelsea,” serving as its producers.

At present, we’re actively seeking the women who will direct our upcoming series. Given that the other shows in our franchise have set high standards, it’s essential we find a captivating ensemble to keep up with the established excitement.

As a fan who recalls the past, I’ve witnessed London-based affluent wives taking center stage before, and one may recall the series “Ladies of London” that debuted in 2014. Unfortunately, after an exciting run spanning three seasons, it concluded in 2017.

Currently, there’s a lot of buzz on social media regarding potential cast members for The Real Housewives of London, and people are eagerly hoping for a fresh lineup instead of another version of Made in Chelsea.

One user took to X to voice their excitement over the news, saying: “The tea and crumpets will flow like fine champagne, the shade will be thicker than the fog on the Thames! Posh accents, fierce fashion, THIS is the high-society chaos we’ve been craving! British backstabbing will leave us gagging!”

This morning, various fan theories are circulating, with some speculating about potential appearances from Sophie Habboo (former Made in Chelsea star), Lydia Millen (influencer), Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu (Love Island alum) and Caroline Stanbury (previous Ladies of London star who is now featured on The Real Housewives of Dubai).

With the unveiling of the show, Hendrik McDermott, director of Hayu and EMEA Networks as well as NBCUniversal’s international direct-to-consumer division, stated: “Tonight marks a significant milestone in the development of our all-reality streaming service, Hayu, as it marks our first commission for an original series. This is another exciting step forward in the growth journey of our platform.

Given the significance of that renowned UK spot, which is a key market for Hayu, it’s logical that we’d incorporate it into our plan to boost our unique content offerings even more. We eagerly anticipate being the exclusive platform for this new addition to the hugely popular The Real Housewives series.

The Real Housewives series boasts several well-known American spin-offs such as New York, Beverly Hills, Atlanta, Potomac, and Salt Lake City. However, only one British adaptation, The Real Housewives of Cheshire, has been created, running impressively for 17 seasons.

As a film critic, I’ve been following Monkey’s work, particularly on “The Real Housewives of Cheshire.” With anticipation building for “The Real Housewives of London,” I can’t help but wonder if this new series will maintain the same tone as its British counterpart or delve deeper into the high-drama territory that its US-based counterparts are renowned for. Only time will tell!

The Real Housewives of London will be available to stream exclusively on Hayu in 2025.
