Real Housewives Star Dwight Eubanks Shares Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

Dwight Eubanks is opening up about his terrifying health battle.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star shared he was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year.

In an interview with People on June 2, the celebrity hairstylist expressed both shock and anger, stating, “I was absolutely devastated.

As a devoted admirer putting it in my own words: “When I heard the word ‘cancer’, my heart skipped a beat. I’m only human, after all. Society has instilled in us that cancer is a dreadful diagnosis, often leading to a shortened lifespan. So, naturally, I panicked, and I believe I’m still grappling with the fear.

In January, even though he wasn’t feeling unwell, Dwight opted for a blood test at his church’s health fair. His physician made a diagnosis only a week later, and another PSA blood test in April verified the presence of the disease.

For years, I, a devoted fan, have been undergoing regular six-month checkups with my doctor, Dwight, who is HIV+. It came as a shock to me when I found out later that his diagnosis could’ve happened earlier.

Upon examining his old medical documents, it was found that in the year 2022, his PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) levels were unusually high, yet this point wasn’t previously discussed.

The TV personality explained, “I exclaimed something like, ‘Is this a joke?’ It was 2022, and no one responded to my concern. He merely stated, ‘You’re undetectable, so you’re good.’ He never mentioned anything about my prostate. I suppose they were simply overlooking it.

Instead, Dwight is choosing to see a positive side. He put it as, “Rather than shedding tears, I’d prefer to laugh through this entire experience.

He expressed that what makes this situation remarkable is the sense he has that a greater force has been readying him for this moment, to serve as a beacon of hope for others. He couldn’t keep quiet about it because, should people simply get tested without delaying, it could prove beneficial for them.

Moreover, Dwight emphasized, “It’s crucial to question, examine your history, and investigate. I can’t speculate about the past, but I must accept my current situation, be thankful, and strive to assist others in their journey too.

Now, Dwight is focused on his treatment plans.

He clarified that they are investigating various options but haven’t decided on a pathway just yet. He added that he has an exceptional medical team consisting of four doctors, including two urologists, another specialist, and his family doctor. He feels confident and deeply appreciative for such a team and support system. They will find a solution together.

Plus, he added, “I feel good.”

In the midst of his ongoing struggle, Dwight has formed a partnership with ZERO Prostate Cancer, serving as their latest brand advocate. This role aims at increasing knowledge and inspiring other males, particularly those of African descent, to prioritize prostate screenings in recognition of Men’s Health Month.

He expressed that there’s something extraordinary about the situation, as if a greater force had been readying him for this moment to serve as a beacon of hope for others. He couldn’t remain quiet about it because he believes sharing this could encourage people to get tested promptly and potentially make a difference in their lives.

Dwight emphasized, ‘It’s crucial to ask questions, review your data, and investigate. I can’t speculate on what might have happened, but I need to accept my current situation, express gratitude, and strive to assist others in their journey.’
