Despite the hopeful anticipation among the Red Dwarf cast for a comeback on television, lead actor Craig Charles recently explained why the show won’t feature a concluding or finale episode.
If a conclusion does arise, fans should be prepared for the narrative to remain unresolved. When inquired about his aspirations for the series and his character Lister, Charles expressed: “I simply yearn for a positive ending for everyone involved. I don’t believe we’ll ever produce a conclusive episode, though.
Except for the exception of Gavin and Stacy, which was satisfactory as a concluding episode, it’s often the case that final episodes tend to be underwhelming, leaving viewers feeling let down and lacking in climax.
We’ve always maintained that there wouldn’t be a final episode. Instead, we’d simply stop producing more – and it seems we might be at that stage now. I fervently hope not, but if we are, it’s been quite an incredible journey. If this is our swan song, it promises to be enjoyable.
Initially, I was thrilled to hear about the upcoming three new episodes of Red Dwarf this year. However, after further discussions, it seems that the production might face more challenges than initially anticipated. To be frank, I’m not entirely certain if we can expect its return just yet.
“I know that the deal that we had to make it this year looks like that might not be happening now.
I don’t have much additional information on the topic, but I can tell you that many discussions about costs have taken place. Based on what I’ve gathered, it seems like the episodes could potentially be quite costly.
Yet, he playfully commented that the drafts and prototypes he’s viewed are “spectacular,” expressing his eagerness and the shared anticipation among the cast that the comeback will materialize.
In the meantime, fans can catch Charles in his new comedy horror film Zombie Apache.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m eagerly anticipating the new flick starring Jamie Costa. This thrilling tale follows my journey as a ruthless real estate tycoon who, in my blind pursuit of profit, disturbs a hallowed Viking burial site. Little do the townsfolk know, I’ve unwittingly awakened a chilling nightmare upon them.
Charles commented about the movie: “The script is genuinely humorous… it has a similar feel to America’s ‘Shaun of the Dead’, but instead, the setting is the Appalachian Mountains.
He commented, “Working with Jamie Costa was fantastic! I believe he’s destined for stardom in Hollywood; he’s incredibly gifted. It has the feel of an ’80s buddy movie, reminiscent of Lethal Weapon, but with a twist: zombies!
The movie’s name clearly hints at its connection to Native American heritage, as Charles explains that the film was intended to depict the culture in a considerate manner.
He said: “At the end of the film, you’ll definitely be on the Native Americans’ side.
Liverpool Joe is my protagonist, who traveled to America, fell in love with a Native American woman, married her, and adopted their customs. However, his application of these traditions to his own life raises questions about his understanding, making him a complex and conflicted character.
“It’s fun, the script is funny, and it’s shot beautifully.”
