Despite a great deal of anticipation regarding the possible revival of Red Dwarf, actor Craig Charles has disclosed that the comeback may face unexpected challenges and there’s a possibility that it won’t materialize in this particular instance.
Earlier reports suggested the show would make a comeback this year with three fresh episodes. However, now, Charles, the actor playing Lister, has given us an update.
“I know that the deal that we had to make it this year looks like that might not be happening now.
I don’t have a lot more information about it, but based on the discussions I’ve heard, I suspect that the costs may be high for those episodes.
He explained: “We are eager to accomplish it, but we’re facing challenges in completing the task… Currently, there appears to be a scarcity of funds available for us.
Hopefully, the main actors, Charles, Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules, and Robert Llewellyn will make a comeback according to reports; let’s keep our fingers crossed that this becomes a reality someday!
In another project, Charles has reverted back to his comedic beginnings with the movie “Zombie Apache.” This film tells the story of an avaricious real estate magnate who disturbs a sacred Viking burial site and triggers a terrifying ordeal for the unaware townsfolk.
Charles commented on the movie, saying, “The script is genuinely humorous… it bears a resemblance to America’s ‘Shaun of the Dead,’ but it unfolds in the Appalachian Mountains instead.
He remarked: “Working with Jamie Costa was fantastic. I believe he’s destined to become a genuine Hollywood star; he’s incredibly gifted. The experience felt similar to an ’80s action-comedy film, like Riggs and Murtaugh in Lethal Weapon, but with zombies!
As a passionate admirer, I couldn’t help but notice the connection between the movie’s name and Native American culture. In an effort to represent their traditions respectfully, the creators, including Charles, were mindful in their portrayal.
He said: “At the end of the film, you’ll definitely be on the Native Americans’ side.
Liverpool Joe is my character, who journeyed to America, fell for a Native American woman, married her, and adopted their customs into his lifestyle. However, his application of these traditions often raises questions about his comprehension, making him a complex and conflicted figure.
“It’s fun, the script is funny, and it’s shot beautifully.”
