After a triumphant first season in 2024, Red Eye returns for its second installment, and we’ve been treated to a sneak peek of what’s to come!
Last year’s highly-ranked ITV drama series, Hana Li Casefile, will bring back Jing Lusi as Detective Sergeant Hana Li in its second season. However, a significant actor from the original cast will not be returning for this new season.
This season no longer includes Richard Armitage, who portrayed Dr. Matthew Nolan in the initial series. Instead, Martin Compston from Line of Duty and The Rig has been added to the current cast.
In the second season of Red Eye, DS Hana Li and Compston’s temporary character will find themselves compelled to put aside previous disputes in order to tackle a fresh, high-risk conspiracy.
Additionally, Lesley Sharp will reprise her role as Madeline Delaney from MI5, Jemma Moore will continue portraying journalist Jess Li, and other familiar faces like Jonathan Aris (from His Dark Materials and The End of the Fing World) and Robert Guilbert (known for Killing Eve and Bergerac) will also be back on set.
In the latest show, lead actress Jing Lusi expressed her great enthusiasm for revisiting the realm of Red Eye, and she’s equally eager to embark on this thrilling ride alongside talented Martin Compston.

In addition to Compston, we have some fresh faces joining our series for season 2. They are Nicholas Rowe from The Crown and Trevor White from Industry, along with a few more talented individuals.
I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming Season 2 will feature a total of six fresh episodes penned by Peter A Dowling. Notably, Jingan Young is joining us once more to contribute her writing talents for one of these episodes.
In the beginning, the first three installments will be overseen by Kieron Hawkes as he returns for directing duties, and then, starting from the middle part, Camilla Strøm Henriksen takes charge.
