On Red Nose Day, everyone finds themselves laughing for a good cause, including some of the world’s most adored musicians from the realm of pop.
Ever since the initiation of Red Nose Day back in 1988, a wide range of artists such as Cher, One Direction, Susan Boyle, and Sugababes have put out songs specifically for Comic Relief. The earnings from these tunes are channeled directly towards assisting those who are less fortunate.
For almost a decade, its success led to an increase in performances, doubling the number of annual shows to two. During this time, a formal, serious rendition was often paired against a humorous parody, delivered by a legendary British comedian.
In the process, it created some of the most beloved song covers of the past 30 years.
Although the tradition ceased in 2017, the songs that were produced continue to be cherished by pop enthusiasts around the world – and with Red Nose Day happening tonight (March 21st), it offers an ideal opportunity to reminisce about the past.
Here are all the official Red Nose Day singles, released in aid of Comic Relief.
