As a lifelong cartoon enthusiast and someone who grew up with the quirky humor of Regular Show, I am beyond excited for its return! I remember staying up late as a teenager to catch those late-night reruns on Adult Swim, laughing until my sides ached at the antics of Mordecai, Rigby, Benson, and Skips. So hearing that Mark Hamill, aka Luke Skywalker himself, is joining the cast has sent me into a frenzy!
Anticipation for the comeback of “Regular Show” grows stronger by the day, especially after Warner Bros. Discovery announced its revival earlier this year. Creator J.G. Quintel is set to reclaim his role as showrunner, making fans eagerly wait for what’s next in the action-comedy series. It has been over five years since “Regular Show” ended, and with renewed interest in its return, it seems that excitement has never been higher. Recently, a convention revealed that Star Wars legend Mark Hamill will be joining the cast of the revival.
This update, as mentioned by PopVerse’s team, emerged from Fan Expo Chicago this month. It was at this event that Hamill interacted with fans and hinted at his return to “Regular Show” during one of his panels. Therefore, it can be confirmed that the immortal yeti Skips will reappear in the show.
Mark Hamill Returns to Regular Show
William Salyers, the voice actor for Rigby, privately messaged me. He asked, “Have you heard the news? I’m just concerned, are you still involved?” It felt like he thought I had moved on from our friendship. In response, I told him, “There can only be one Skips, and he is eagerly awaiting his reunion with old friend Rigby.” He then sent me a joyful dance GIF. This was shared by Hamill.
Regarding the show “Regular Show,” the actor shared that he continues to find the initial series extremely entertaining. However, he wishes there were a few drug-related jokes in it, but he acknowledges Cartoon Network’s constraints in making such humor.
Hamill stated that he found it enjoyable, remarking that it has a similar feel to “Beavis and Butthead,” focusing on two seemingly inept characters, Mordecai and Rigby, who constantly criticize others. He wasn’t expecting this show to appeal, especially since it’s intended for children rather than mature audiences like Adult Swim. If it were possible to include adult humor and pot references, that would be a different story, but as it stands, it’s not.
The Next Phase of Cartoon Network
Ever since Hamill confessed his affection for “Regular Show,” I can’t help but share the same enthusiasm. Just like him, I’m eager to dive back into Skips’ world as soon as possible. And let’s not forget about us fans! When “Regular Show” premiered in September 2010, it quickly became a sensational hit among viewers of all ages. The show’s off-the-wall humor and quirky charm struck a chord with many. After wrapping up in 2017, there were calls for a comeback from fans like me, and this year, our prayers were answered!
Moving on to discuss recent updates, it’s been confirmed that Regular Show is coming back, as announced by Cartoon Network Studios, Warner Bros. Animation, and Annecy Festival. Additionally, Craig McCracken’s team is working on a revival of Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. Furthermore, the network has ordered a new series called Side Quests, which continues the Adventure Time legacy. This diverse lineup of animated shows, appealing to both children and adults, has fans excited about Cartoon Network’s upcoming phase. Here’s hoping that we won’t have to wait much longer for the Regular Show revival, especially since Hamill is also looking forward to it!
