Rehab Struggle: Mikayla Nogueira Opens Up

TikToker Mikayla Nogueira is speaking out about her husband’s recent absence from social media.

The influential figure in the makeup world has verified that Cody Hawken is currently receiving treatment at a rehabilitation center. She also disclosed that he struggled with drug and alcohol addiction last year, which unfortunately led to a relapse.

Mikayla shared on TikTok on April 4th that her husband, Cody, is currently undergoing treatment in a rehab facility. She emphasized that while Cody’s personal journey isn’t hers to discuss, he’s granted her permission to share some aspects of it today.

The 26-year-old expressed, “I am exceptionally proud of Cody. It requires tremendous bravery to surrender one’s own will and seek treatment, and I couldn’t be prouder. Over the past few months, some of you may have noticed that Cody has been scarcely present. Now, you understand why.

Mikayla announced that her spouse, who had openly discussed his struggles with substance abuse in the past, experienced a relapse involving drugs in January 2024. He subsequently began consuming alcohol again starting from the month of April that same year.

In 2024, she shared that she experienced some of the most terrifying nights in her existence. She was referring to instances where she felt compelled to call the authorities out of fear for her husband’s life.

In December 2024, Mikayla disclosed that she experienced a brief emotional collapse due to Cody’s recurring issues. For some time now, they have been residing apart from each other.

She shared that as his addiction grew more severe, our home became increasingly challenging for us. Eventually, faced with a very tough choice, I decided to find him an apartment of his own.

Cody reached his lowest point, and she expressed her concern that she might lose him. In a moment of fear that if he overdosed or injured himself, she wouldn’t be able to reach him, Mikayla confessed, “I stole one of the keys.

She stated, “His addiction grew worse, making life at home increasingly challenging. Eventually, I was faced with a heart-wrenching choice and had to find him an apartment of his own.

In March of this year, the TikToker went on to share, her spouse called her to disclose that he was seeking assistance. “He told me, ‘I’ve had enough and I’m going to a rehab center,'” Mikayla recalled. “The sensation of tossing and turning every night, plagued by worry for my husband, has been replaced with the knowledge that over the past six weeks, he’s been in a secure facility, receiving treatment, help, and finding his way towards sobriety.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but express my unwavering commitment. I vow to stand by Cody for as long as he requires his rehabilitation journey. And when the day arrives that he steps out of that facility, I promise you, I’ll be there with open arms, eagerly awaiting his return.

She declared, “Cody has my deepest affection. He’s my significant other. I am committed to standing by his side. Given the situation he’s in, he truly merits immense kindness. I sincerely wish that you all will extend your support to him and me as we journey through this together.

In a subsequent video posted on April 5th, Mikayla stated that Cody has been advancing significantly in his rehabilitation process, and added that they frequently communicate via FaceTime.

In a 2022 TikTok post, Cody openly discussed his struggle with addiction, mentioning that he’d completed treatment and has been substance-free for over two years, alongside his supportive wife.

As Mikayla tightly gripped my hand, I shared a piece of my past: “Long before I stumbled upon drugs, I was already a deeply melancholic individual. I felt unaccepted,” I reminisced. “Once I discovered drugs though, they provided me with companionship – people I believed were friends at the time. They offered an escape from myself.

Cody expressed gratitude towards his supporters for standing by him throughout his journey, along with Mikayla, whom he acknowledged has shared her experiences with eating disorders and mental health issues. He underscored that their support truly makes a significant impact on both of them.

The Valley star shared his decades-long battle with drugs in March 2025 after going to rehab.

During a March 4 episode of Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, Jax admitted, “I’ve been struggling with addiction, mainly to cocaine. It’s tough to verbalize this truth.

He shared, “I’ve had periods of struggling with this issue, starting from when I was 23. Now that I’m 45, it has been an intermittent battle for me. There have been instances where I managed to abstain, but there were also phases where I found myself indulging excessively.

Apart from quitting cocaine, Jax has also stopped consuming alcohol. He mentioned that his choices often led him to use both substances together and he couldn’t separate them. So, he decided to give up both. Currently, he is 82 to 83 days clean, which marks the longest period in his life without using either substance.

In 2022, the actor who played Spider-Man in “No Way Home” chose to quit drinking alcohol as he felt trapped by its influence. During an interview on the “On Purpose with Jay Shetty” podcast, Holland admitted that he struggled with alcohol addiction, stating, “I think anyone who drinks a beer every day likely has some degree of a problem.

Then, you’d find yourself thinking, “Gosh, I wish I hadn’t had that extra drink,” the actor went on. The next morning, you’d discover you were plagued with a throbbing headache.

After adopting a new lifestyle, Holland found that he’s been sleeping more soundly and managing issues more effectively.

He confided that issues that typically upset him during filming were easier to handle, for him they were just minor hurdles. “My mind was so much clearer. I felt more robust in terms of my health and fitness,” he said.

The lead actor from the movie “Hunt for Red October” seldom discusses his alcohol recovery process that started approximately forty years back.

He mentioned that he doesn’t often delve into this topic, but occasionally does so when it seems fitting. He has been sober for 39 years now, having achieved sobriety on February 23, 1985.

1983 found me swapping the bustling energy of New York City for the sunny shores of Los Angeles. For the following two years, I grappled with an intense struggle – a daily battle against addiction. It felt as if I inhaled lines of cocaine from here to the furthest reaches of Saturn. Upon returning home, this substance was as ubiquitous as coffee in those days, and it seemed everyone was using it throughout their day.

And after quitting the drug, he soon turned to alcohol—only to also quit that dependency.

Today, he relies on the city around him.

He mentioned that New York brings him a sense of calm. As he roams around, he discovers parts of it he hadn’t noticed before. He might gaze at a structure and exclaim, “I never realized that about that building, those doors!” He enjoys having meals and coffee with his friends there.

Back in April of 2024, I, an unwavering devotee, was overjoyed to learn from my beloved Princess Diaries co-star that she had surpassed the five-year mark of sobriety. In her own words, shared with the esteemed New York Times, this achievement felt like a significant milestone for her.

Her thoughts were straightforward. She admitted, “I knew instinctively it wasn’t suited for me.” And it seemed overly intense to have to state, ‘Absolutely not?’ But none. If you’re sensitive or experience a severe reaction to something, there’s no room for debate. So I chose to stop debating it.

She’s glad she went ahead with that choice. In her opinion, things have significantly improved. For her, dwelling on problems isn’t something she enjoys doing.

During her acceptance speech for the 2018 Woman of the Year Award at the Peggy Albrecht Friendly House, a home providing recovery for women struggling with substance and alcohol addiction, Moore discussed the “damaging course” that almost halted her professional progress.

As a dedicated follower, I can relate to the idea that certain pivotal moments in life mold our identity and future trajectory. In the early stages of my professional journey, I found myself on a self-destructive path, despite any accomplishments I may have achieved. The truth was, I never felt deserving or content with what I had, which only deepened the downward spiral.

This destructive pattern swiftly propelled me towards a critical juncture in my life, and at the time, it wasn’t evident why. Looking back now, it seems as if some higher power may have been guiding me.

In 2012, Moore expressed gratitude towards two individuals she barely knew for presenting her with a crucial decision point. She recounted their words as, “Unless you’re dead, you should show up,” and acknowledged that they provided her an opportunity to change the trajectory of her life before it crumbled completely.

It’s astonishing how deeply they perceived my potential when I couldn’t even fathom it myself,” I marveled. “I owe them an immense debt of gratitude, for without their faith in me, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

In 2022, Cyrus admitted that she has been recovering from her Xanax addiction since 2020. She explained to Rolling Stone that the medication provided her with a much-needed structure during a difficult time and offered her hope. “It wasn’t just about sitting around and getting lost in my thoughts,” she said. “It was something I could rely on.

The singer remarked, “When I realized there could be moments when you could momentarily muffle the noise and dull your suffering, it ended.

She mentioned that her friends at one point seemed to tacitly approve of her drug habit, which led to a deep, seemingly endless downward spiral for her. However, during the pandemic, Cyrus acknowledged struggling with difficulties and feeling emotionally disconnected. “I would often find myself dozing off and falling asleep,” she reminisced. “Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay awake or keep my eyes open because I was so deeply engrossed in it.

She eventually sought help and noted that “it took some time to get on my own two feet.”

16 years ago, the former star of Parenthood had remained abstinent from alcohol or drugs, but in 2020, following a motorcycle accident, they resorted to using Vicodin once again.

Over the past two months or so, he mentioned during his “Armchair Expert” podcast, “I spend most of my day on them,” he added. “Since I have a prescription, I can use them at certain levels, but I also supplement their effects.

He went on, expressing his dislike for the situation, admitting he was deceiving others, and acknowledging he needed to stop. However, his tolerance was escalating rapidly, leading him to consume around eight 30mg pills daily. This quantity, he knew, would trigger a severe withdrawal. Fear was beginning to creep in, along with feelings of isolation, and he carried the weight of this immense secret.

2018 saw the actress who starred in Halloween openly discussing her decade-long struggle with opiate addiction, which originated from a prescription for plastic surgery to address hereditary puffy eyes in the late ’80s. This prescription significantly altered her life trajectory. “I had a ten-year streak of stealing and deceiving,” she confided in People, “without anyone suspecting or knowing.

In the summer of 1998, when Curtis’s sister visited and brought prescribed painkillers for a rib injury, it was then that Curtis realized she had reached her lowest point. As she confided to the publication with tears in her eyes, she recalled, “I knew those opiates were in her suitcase, stored in the guest room closet.” Essentially, she admitted to herself and later wrote in a note, she had taken all of her sister’s painkillers. When her sister was leaving, Curtis knew she would discover the missing pills. In an act of acknowledgment, she penned a note and left it on her sister’s suitcase. Upon returning home that day, her sister embraced her, expressing love, concern, and reluctance to watch Curtis self-destruct.

On February 3, 1999, she participated in her initial gathering, a day which also marked when she confided in her filmmaker spouse, Christopher Guest, about her challenges. He was taken aback, stating he had never suspected it before. Since then, she has remained sober.

In 2021, Barrymore publicly announced a significant achievement in her recovery journey. On CBS Mornings, she shared that it had been over two and a half years since she last drank alcohol. She stated, “For the first time in a long while, I am proud to say: I haven’t had a drop of alcohol in over 2 years.” She further explained that giving up alcohol was not beneficial for her life.

She commented, “It’s hilarious how freeing and exposed it feels when we uncover ourselves, our hidden aspects, and the accomplishments we’ve labored on. It’s a mix of liberation and vulnerability.

Later on, Barrymore clarified to the Los Angeles Times that she prefers not to be labeled as “sober,” as she doesn’t wish to give the impression that she is a “perfect Puritan” or someone who claims moral superiority.

In the year 2023, she reflected, “I had been telling myself, ‘I’ll conquer this, I’ll find a solution,'” but eventually understood, “The truth is, I never truly mastered this skill, nor will I.

During the 2000s, the actor from “A Star Is Born” battled a cocaine addiction. Eventually, his friend Will Arnett intervened and addressed his concerns about his actions.

During his 2022 interview on the Smartless podcast, Cooper vividly remembered that moment as the time when he first recognized he struggled with substance abuse, an experience he would never forget.

Cooper mentioned that it was Arnett who served as the catalyst for his decision to go sober. He further explained, “Arnett had the courage to engage in a tough talk with me, which ultimately led me to embark on a journey of changing my life.

The main actor of Fight Club battled alcohol addiction for several years, but later managed to get sober thanks to Cooper’s help. He shared this gratitude at the 2020 National Board of Review Annual Awards when Cooper presented him with an award, stating, “I’ve been happier every day since then.

In September 2023, the former star of “Cruel Intentions” posted on Instagram that it had been the longest period since his teenage years when he wasn’t using any form of nicotine or marijuana, and other substances as well.

He expressed gratitude for the liberation brought about by overcoming addictions and shedding reliance on substances. He described sobriety, understanding, and a strong spiritual bond as incredibly satisfying.

In 2018, during her tour, the singer proudly announced six years without alcohol. However, she left fans astounded later in the year by releasing the candid song “Sober”, a confession of her recent relapse.

She lamented, “Mama, I’m truly regretful that I’m no longer in control / Daddy, please find it in your heart to forgive me for the liquor that stained the floor / To those who have always stood by me, we’ve traveled this path before, I’m sorry, I’m no longer sober.” She expressed her feelings in song.

A month later, Lovato was hospitalized for a near-fatal overdose.

Two weeks ago, she posted on Instagram that she’s been open about her struggle with addiction. She further explained that this illness doesn’t just go away; instead, it’s something she must continue to battle. At present, she needs time to recover and focus on her sobriety. The support you’ve all shown means a lot to her and is something she won’t forget. She’s eagerly looking forward to the day when she can say she’s overcome this challenge. For now, she’ll keep fighting.

In 2018, she mentioned her struggles with addictions to sex and alcohol. “My addictions can change, they switch from one thing to another. When I was younger, I believe I had some form of a sex addiction, yes, that I thought everything could be solved through sexual encounters,” she explained, going on to discuss the moment she recognized she had a serious drinking issue.

She recalled hitting a low point when she was alone at home, with two bottles of wine already consumed and reaching for a third. She paused, reflecting, “Wait a minute. Here you are, alone in this house, on your way to the third bottle of wine. This could be a sign that there’s an issue.

She shared, “I quit cold turkey, that’s just my nature. I tend to binge and need to keep myself in check to avoid becoming overly absorbed. It’s not the action itself that matters, but the motivation behind it. The behavior connected to it. For instance, if you enjoy having a lot of sex, that’s fine, but consider why you’re engaging in so much. That’s what requires examination.

One of the Backstreet Boys bandmates experimented with drugs for the first time prior to filming their music video for “The Call” in 2000. He later admitted on Good Morning America that he felt incredibly energetic during the shoot. After struggling with addiction, he managed to achieve sobriety in 2021 and experienced numerous positive changes within a year, such as shedding 32 pounds over seven months by eliminating alcohol and fast food from his diet.

In an interview with Today in September 2022, he stated that alcohol consumption led to an increase in his weight, but it also negatively impacted his mental wellbeing.

Following Mac Miller’s untimely demise, rapper Bow Wow (originally Shad Moss) used Twitter to share his past battle with codeine addiction. In a series of tweets, he admitted that during the creation of the album “Face Off” with Omarion, he was addicted to lean and high most days. He mentioned instances where this affected his attitude and interactions, even leading to estrangement from fans and family.

Bow Wow revealed that he was consuming 4-Hands (a slang term for codeine) at least seven times a day during the UCP tour with Chris Brown. This addiction led him to pass out and end up in the hospital, an experience he described as unparalleled pain. He missed performances in Chicago and Baltimore due to his high and sick state.

He emphasized the dangers of this lifestyle, stating that it’s not cool and urged his followers to kick the habit. He expressed a desire to live and encouraged parents to watch their children closely, explaining the risks to them. In conclusion, he called on young artists and kids worldwide to avoid following trends and instead break the cycle of addiction. His message ended with peace.

2018 saw Gwyneth Paltrow’s husband, Chris Martin, and her, staging an intervention following a distressing incident at Kate Hudson’s Halloween party. During this gathering, the singer, under the influence of excessive alcohol and cocaine, inadvertently collided with Orlando Bloom, resulting in a self-inflicted head injury that left her unconscious. In her fourth studio album “No Shame” and memoir “My Thoughts Exactly,” she openly discusses her struggles with addiction, revealing episodes of severe intoxication.

She shared with The Guardian, “I felt nothing could touch or fulfill me. One morning during those tough times, I woke up and contemplated, ‘Perhaps it’s the heroin that could help now, since nothing else seems effective.’

In the 1980s, an actor from The Parent Trap struggled with cocaine addiction, which eventually led him to rehab in 1990. He elaborated on this in an interview on Today, stating that he came of age during the ’60s and ’70s when there was a more lenient view towards drug use.

In 2018, he confessed that he was using cocaine almost every day during the ’80s and that his drug use was so severe that he would beg God to take it away from him, promising to never do it again before going to work. However, in the afternoon he would often think, ‘It’s not so bad.’

He shared an intense moment where he felt like he was facing either death or losing everything valuable to him, which he referred to as a profoundly bright, almost ethereal experience. Overwhelmed, he needed to explain this to his fiancée, Meg Ryan, at the time. Afterward, he decided it was time to seek help and ended his relationship with cocaine.

Following an occurrence in Newport Beach where Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte attempted to break down his hotel room door, Lochte decided to seek treatment in 2018. According to a statement provided to TopMob News by his representative, “Ryan has been struggling with alcohol addiction for quite some time, and unfortunately, it has developed into a harmful cycle for him. He has admitted that he needs professional help to conquer this issue and will be seeking immediate assistance.

Ryan understands that overcoming this illness is crucial for him to prevent future mistakes, to become the best husband and father possible, and if he aims to reclaim his dominance in the pool at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Despite understanding that it’s generally advised against, getting sober for someone else isn’t the norm, but for the former Parenthood actor, his relationship with Melanie Lynskey played a significant role in his decision to quit drinking.

During his interview on The Drew Barrymore Show in March 2023, he clarified, “I realized at some point just how extraordinary she was, and I believed she’d be perfect for someone truly deserving. However, I didn’t see myself as that worthy individual; I felt a tad bit unconventional.

However, as Ritter noted to TopMob News, he now sees that sobriety is ultimately a personal choice.

He mentioned that in the initial stages of their relationship, he found it simpler to claim he was acting on her behalf because at that point, he didn’t have a high sense of self-worth. Instead, he valued protecting her more than sparing himself from pain. Initially, it felt easier for him to say, ‘I’m doing this for her.’ However, now, his actions are motivated by self-interest.

For almost a decade now, the country artist has managed to stay sober, but achieving this wasn’t easy. His struggle with alcohol and prescription pain pills started shortly after he graduated from high school, persisting even as his career ascended. He confessed that he carried a black leather laptop bag containing bottles of Jagermeister or vodka, always within easy reach. As he put it to People magazine, every hour and a half to two hours, he would take a couple of strong drinks. And every three or four hours, he felt the need for a pill or two.

He acknowledged that it didn’t hinder his achievements, stating, “I wasn’t tripping and falling everywhere,” he explained. “I was operating at full capacity—I composed more tunes back then than I do presently. That was the frightening aspect.

In late 2011, he was admitted to the hospital due to pancreatitis, and doctors warned him that if he continued drinking, he might not celebrate his next birthday. However, he attempted to curb his habits on his own, such as promising himself to take only two pills a day or limiting his alcohol intake, but making a mark on the bottle. This strategy would work for a few days, but then someone would throw a party and he’d be tempted to resume his old ways.

Eventually, he realized he needed assistance, checking into rehab on December 18, 2011. As Gilbert put it, “I reached a point where I knew I couldn’t handle it alone anymore. It infuriated and humiliated me. Despite being a determined individual, this was the one aspect of my life that I couldn’t conquer.
