The creators of the game Rematch, Sloclap, have sadly shared some unfavorable news about the game’s crossplay features. Despite the game being set to release on June 19th for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, it won’t support crossplay at its initial launch. This revelation has left many fans feeling disheartened, particularly those who intend to play with friends using different platforms. However, it’s important to note that while Rematch won’t include crossplay functionality at the outset, Sloclap considers it a priority and plans to implement it in the future.
Sloclap utilized social media platform X to disseminate this information, yet they guaranteed the community that crossplay functionality would be incorporated into Rematch with a future update. The studio also vowed to disclose the estimated time of arrival (ETA) as soon as feasible. This announcement received a range of reactions, with some fans expressing understanding and contentment, choosing to place their trust in Sloclap.
As an avid gamer, I’m thrilled to announce that while crossplay between Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox won’t be immediately available at the game launch, it’s high on our priority list for future updates. We understand your anticipation and can’t wait to bring this feature to you! Keep an eye out for more details on when we plan to roll it out – we’ll share the release date as soon as we can! #Rematch

On the contrary, certain fans criticized the studio and anticipated Rematch‘s downfall, identifying the absence of crossplay as a contributing factor. Crossplay is a key element in multiplayer games, enabling swift lobby filling through a combined player base. Without crossplay, each platform will only have access to players on that specific platform.
Prior to the official release of Rematch, game developer Sloclap has rolled out two beta versions and even made necessary updates. This demonstrates their commitment to supporting Rematch, especially considering their successful track record from their previous title, Sifu, which has earned them a great deal of trust. Although there’s no specific timeline for the inclusion of crossplay, it is widely expected that this feature will be implemented once Sloclap has managed to make it functional.
