Reminder: 22 PS Plus Games Expire on Tuesday, Replaced with One of Service’s Worst Updates

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but feel a sense of trepidation as I reflect on the upcoming changes to PS Plus. May 20th, 2025 seems to be shaping up as a challenging day, with no less than 22 games set to depart, and the arrival of what appears to be one of the service’s least impressive updates in recent memory. Here’s hoping that this might just be the difficult phase that paves the way for better things to come!

Last month, we shared the upcoming expiration dates for a lengthy list of PS Plus titles. However, the news of their imminent removal has been made more disappointing by the limited choices scheduled to take their place. Here are 22 games from both PS5, PS4, and even PS3 that will no longer be accessible through PS Plus Extra or PS Plus Premium starting Tuesday. If you wish to keep playing these titles, you’ll need to purchase them separately.

  • Grand Theft Auto V (PS5, PS4)
  • MotoGP 24 (PS5, PS4)
  • The Sims 4: Island Living (PS4)
  • Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3)
  • Resistance 2 (PS3)
  • Walkabout Mini Golf (PSVR2)
  • Synth Riders (PSVR2)
  • Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord (PSVR2)
  • Before Your Eyes (PSVR2)
  • The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners (PSVR2)
  • The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution (PSVR2)
  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 (PS4)
  • Stranded: Alien Dawn (PS5, PS4)
  • The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame (PS5)
  • Ghostrunner (PS5, PS4)
  • Payday 2: Crimewave Edition (PS4)
  • Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (PS4)
  • Journey to the Savage Planet (PS5, PS4)
  • Portal Knights (PS4)
  • Enter the Gungeon (PS4)
  • Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4)
  • inFAMOUS: Second Son (PS4)

Instead of being playable directly on PlayStation 5 and 4 consoles, Sony has decided to no longer offer the option to play the two Resistance installments from the PS3 era. These games can only be accessed online through the PS Plus Premium-exclusive streaming service, and they are not available for purchase in the standard PlayStation Store.

It’s perplexing why Insomniac, being a first-party studio owned by PlayStation, would need to partner with an outside company for this project. Instead, it appears that this initiative is entirely internal, which means the two Resistance games will only be playable on PS5 and PS4 for six months since they were removed.

Starting Tuesday, 12 games will be removed from PS Plus as 22 existing titles get replaced with 10 new ones, resulting in a decrease of 12 games available to members. After this update, it’s clear that the membership’s value for money will diminish. Unfortunately, the upcoming games don’t seem to be particularly exceptional or high-quality efforts.

Rising, along with the updated S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Trilogy, are all providing enjoyable gaming experiences. But when it comes to new PS Plus Premium game additions, there’s only one that’s newly announced – Battle Engine Aquila – which was also unknown to us prior to the announcement made on Wednesday.

It’s unfortunate that so many games are departing from Sony’s service all at once, while the influx of new games replacing them is less than half as much. Here’s hoping they can get things running smoothly again come June.
