Renegade Nell cast and crew react to axe: “We had stories left to tell”

As a seasoned cinema enthusiast with a penchant for fantastical tales and captivating characters, I must admit that the cancellation of Sally Wainwright’s enchanting series “Renegade Nell” has left me both crestfallen and baffled.

After it was revealed that Sally Wainwright’s fantasy series Renegade Nell won’t continue with a new season on Disney Plus, the team involved in the production – including the cast and crew – have shared their feelings about this unfortunate decision.

The streamer officially announced that the series was terminated following its first season, as it failed to meet the requirements needed for a second season according to multiple factors.

A representative from Disney announced that the Disney+ Original series “Renegade Nell,” will not be coming back for another season on the platform. We’re extremely pleased with the unique universe developed by Sally Wainwright and primary director, Ben Taylor.

As a long-time fan of magical shows, I must say that I am utterly grateful to everyone who watched and fell in love with this enchanting production. Having been involved in the world of entertainment for quite some time, I can confidently attest that the cast and crew on this project were nothing short of extraordinary. The time we spent together was truly magical, and it’s evident that each and every one of them poured their heart and soul into every frame. Their dedication to bringing this show to life is something that will always be remembered, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have been a part of such an exceptional team.

“Together, we constructed a world full of untold tales. Our journey seemed far from over. I’m going to miss you deeply, Nelly Jackson.”

Alice Kremelberg, the actress portraying Lord Blancheford’s daughter Sofia Wilmot, bid adieu by posting a picture of her character with the caption: “Goodbye, my dear.”

In the process, Jake Dunn, known for his role as bully Thomas Blancheford in Renegade Nell, posted a collection of pictures with the cast during the film’s production.

“I adored this role so deeply, it hardly feels like work,” he concluded his Instagram post. “A big thank you to all who tuned in.”

He said: “We’re now in the process of writing a possible second series. So you’re able to take stock and figure out what would be the 2.0 version and focus on the stuff that was really working and do more of that.

“It appears there will be a time leap in this production, as we filmed it more than a year ago. This gives the impression that it’s been quite some time since we last saw these characters, which contributes to the narrative by showing Roxy and George have aged approximately two years.”

You can watch the series “Renegade Nell” online via Disney Plus. Subscribe to Disney Plus at just £4.99 per month, or opt for an annual plan at £79.90.
