Reporter Found Dead, Suspect Arrested

A new development in the case surrounding Adan Manzano’s death has emerged.

Following the unfortunate demise of the Telemundo Kansas City sports reporter during the 2025 Super Bowl coverage in New Orleans, a suspect was apprehended by local authorities in connection with his death. This announcement was made by Chief of Police Keith Conley at a press conference held on February 7th.

In New Orleans on February 6th, Danette Colbert from Slidell, La., was apprehended. This was after she was reportedly found using Manzano’s credit card in the city, as stated by Conley to reporters. The day before her arrest, investigators reviewed security footage that showed Colbert with Manzano. Additionally, it was seen on the same footage that she exited his Kenner hotel room alone later that morning.

Afterward, Colbert was arrested for property-related offenses as stated by Conley. However, he pointed out that the charges might be elevated depending on the results of the coroner’s investigation.

TopMob News has attempted to contact both the New Orleans Police Department and the legal representative of Colbert, yet we haven’t received any response so far.

In response to the news about Manzano’s passing, Steve Downing, the general manager at Telemundo KC, paid tribute to the departed journalist for being an outstanding coworker.

Speaking as a connoisseur of all things lifestyle-related, let me express that Adan, our esteemed Sports Anchor and Reporter at KGKC, was an unparalleled professional and a shining beacon on the rise. His dedication to his craft, coupled with his exceptional work ethic, embodied the epitome of excellence.

In a heartfelt statement issued on February 6th, I want to share that we will deeply mourn Adan’s absence, not just for his infectious passion for sports but also for the profound impact he made on our local community. His contributions were more than just news; they were a testament to the power of storytelling and its ability to connect us all.

Beyond extending sympathies to the family of Manzano, Downing mentioned that the station is working closely with law enforcement agencies as they delve into the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident.

Tragically, Manzano’s wife, Ashleigh LeeAnn Boyd Manzano-Aguilar, who was the mother of his 2-year-old daughter Eleanor, passed away nine months prior at the age of 24 in a head-on collision. As per WIBW 13, her obituary portrayed her as an exceptionally kind, caring, and beautiful individual, describing her as a beacon of sunlight who always wore a radiant smile on her face.
