As a seasoned gamer who’s been through the zombie-infested streets of Raccoon City more times than I care to remember, the news that Resident Evil 2 is coming to iPhone and iPad next December has me both excited and apprehensive. On one hand, I’ve grown fond of playing survival horror games on the go, thanks to my past experiences with the likes of Silent Hill and Outlast mobile versions. On the other, I can’t help but think back to Resident Evil 7, Village, and 4’s remake, which despite their graphical prowess, didn’t quite make a splash on these new platforms.
Excitingly, I learned that back in January, Capcom revealed their plans to bring the 2019 remake of Resident Evil 2 to iOS, iPadOS, and Mac devices in 2024. And just recently, they’ve given us a definite launch date for this port!
Via a tweet, the company declared that “Resident Evil 2” is set to launch on December 10, exclusively for Apple devices such as the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, iPads, and Mac computers equipped with an M1 chip or newer.
The critically acclaimed horror game in the Resident Evil series will emulate the path taken by titles like Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village, and the remake of Resident Evil 4. These games have been released on iPhone, iPad, and Mac over the past year as well. According to recent reports, they didn’t perform particularly well on these new platforms, so it will be intriguing to observe how Resident Evil 2 performs in this regard.
Right now, you can play “Resident Evil 2” on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and personal computers. Physical versions for the PlayStation 5 are also coming out soon. To read our review of this game, just follow the link provided.
