Resident Evil 4 Remake Sales at Nine Million, Series’ Fastest-Selling Game

Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil 4 for PS5 and PS4 has surpassed nine million copies sold, with an extra one million units bought since its last report just under three months ago. According to Resident Evil author Alex Aniel, this makes the latest Capcom remake the fastest-selling Resident Evil game in history by a significant margin.

Through two tweets, the author of Itchy Tasty: An Unofficial History of Resident Evil disclosed an interesting fact: Resident Evil 4’s eighth quarter sales outperform any other game in the series by more than double. The runner-up is Resident Evil Village at 500,000. To date, Resident Evil 4 has sold a staggering 7.9 million copies, a figure that Resident Evil Village took longer to reach.

It appears that more adaptations of the Resident Evil series are underway, with fan favorites like Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero being strong possibilities for Capcom. Given their development history, though, it seems plausible that Capcom will unveil a fresh game and sequel to Resident Evil Village as their next project instead.
