This week, it’s been suggested by a trustworthy source, NateTheHate, that we can expect a new installment in the Resident Evil series to be unveiled sometime during the coming days.
MP1st initially reported that there were suggestions for the confirmation of Resident Evil 9, often referred to colloquially as such. This is expected to happen during one of the numerous livestreams at the Summer Game Fest this week. In response to questions on Twitter, the leaker confirmed the accuracy of yesterday’s reports.
Since the unveiling of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard in 2016, every new Resident Evil game or remake has been introduced during a Sony PlayStation stream. Today, Sony officially announced a State of Play event scheduled for Wednesday, June 4th. This event promises approximately 40 minutes filled with updates on exciting games coming to the PS5. Given this, it appears that Resident Evil 9 may be among these highly anticipated titles.
This upcoming installment might not bear Roman numerals like “Resident Evil 9,” given Capcom’s current preference for incorporating these in the game title. However, it is expected to serve as the culmination of Ethan Winters’ storyline, a character last seen in Resident Evil Village.
The publisher tends to keep a relatively small time gap between the announcement and launch of Resident Evil games. If the confirmation about Resident Evil 9 comes tomorrow, we can expect it to be released for PlayStation 5 within the subsequent year.
