It’s uncertain if Screen Gems, who have been instrumental in past Resident Evil films, are involved this time. Director Zach Cregger, who has earned respect with films like ‘Barbarian’ and ‘Weapons’, is reported to be doing well with test audiences. As of now, ‘Weapons’ is scheduled for release in early 2026. It seems that Resident Evil will be Cregger’s next film once he secures a studio deal, and given his reputation, he may have considerable creative control over the project.
