The long-awaited ninth installment of Resident Evil, officially titled Resident Evil Requiem, has officially been unveiled following years of speculation. Set for release on February 27th, 2026, the game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. In this new chapter, gamers find themselves back in Raccoon City, taking on the role of FBI agent Grace Ashcroft as they navigate through the horrifying events that unfold.
As a gamer, I’m genuinely intrigued by the connections this new title seems to have with previous games, particularly since she appears to be the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Outbreak. Yet, what really catches my attention is Capcom’s emphasis on the sequel’s technical improvements. In a recent press release, they highlighted that RE Engine will leverage “the full potential of modern consoles” to bring “terrifying realism like never before.
This encompasses “intricate character traits,” such as “lifelike facial movements, authentic skin tones, and even convincing sweat beads.” Notably, these were apparent in the trailer when Grace was lying on a gurney following what appeared to be surgery. While players can anticipate the “deeply unsettling elements of psychological terror” that the series is recognized for, they should also prepare for “heart-racing action.
One captivating aspect lies in understanding how to navigate through an exhilarating ordeal that promises to send shivers down your spine – a possible reference to the game’s interactive features.
Details about the upcoming game titled “Resident Evil Requiem” will be revealed this year, including a playable demo that’s open to the public at Gamescom. Capcom has confirmed that voiceovers and subtitles will be available in English, Japanese, Italian, French, Latin American Spanish, and additional languages. Moreover, subtitles will also be provided in Korean, Arabic, Polish, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. Keep an eye out for further announcements.
