As a long-time fan of the horror genre and a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nostalgia upon hearing about the latest sales milestones reached by Capcom’s beloved Resident Evil series. Having grown up with these iconic games, I’ve witnessed firsthand how they’ve evolved over the years, from their humble beginnings as pioneers in the survival horror genre to their current status as modern classics that continue to captivate audiences around the world.
Capcom’s hit survival horror franchise, “Resident Evil,” continues to thrive. Over the past ten years, it has experienced a remarkable comeback, beginning with the release of “Resident Evil 7” in early 2017. Since then, numerous installments have received both critical and commercial recognition.
Unsurprisingly, the entire series of Resident Evil has consistently surpassed significant sales benchmarks, and this trend continues. In a recent financial report for the current fiscal year’s first quarter (ending March 31 next year), Capcom announced that the Resident Evil series has sold more than 160 million copies globally.
Just last month, Capcom revealed that Resident Evil Village had achieved a milestone of selling 10 million copies, making it the quickest game in the series to reach this number. Simultaneously, as recently as earlier this year, the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 have surpassed 13.9 million and 8.7 million units sold respectively. Furthermore, Resident Evil 7 has sold over 13.3 million copies globally.
Capcom has shared new information about the sales of “Resident Evil 4” remake, revealing that it has surpassed 7.6 million units in total sales. You can find additional details by following this link.
