Resident Evil Village Runs at 120FPS on the PS5 Pro

As a seasoned gamer with years of gaming under my belt and countless hours spent navigating the twisted corridors of Resident Evil series, I must say that Capcom’s announcement about enhancing Resident Evil Village for the PS5 Pro has me absolutely thrilled!

The PlayStation 5 Pro has sparked numerous questions like “is it really needed?” due to some enhanced PS5 Pro games still not achieving a consistent 60FPS target. However, future titles such as the delayed “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” and the upcoming “Ghost of Yotei” will indeed be optimized for the PS5 Pro. Yet, many of the games advertised for the console are ones that players might have already experienced, reducing the motivation to upgrade from a regular PS5 to the more potent PS5 Pro model.

One of the older games is Resident Evil Village, released in 2021, making it far from a new game despite being the latest mainline installment in the Resident Evil series. Notably, Resident Evil Village was capable of running at 60FPS on the standard PlayStation 5 with ray tracing disabled. However, developers Capcom are pushing the boundaries even further for the PS5 Pro. This week, they and Sony announced that Resident Evil Village will run at a smooth 120FPS on the PS5 Pro.

In the game “Resident Evil Village,” Capcom enhanced the gameplay to reach 120 frames per second on the PlayStation 5 Pro. This significant performance upgrade makes the already distinctive and chilling cast of characters appear even more lifelike, intensifying the scary atmosphere. Furthermore, action sequences now pack a stronger punch than ever before. The stunning and eerie setting of Resident Evil Village leverages the power of the PlayStation 5 Pro for ultra-high-resolution technology, resulting in an incredibly realistic visual experience that heightens immersion to its maximum potential.

It’s crucial to clarify that ray tracing isn’t discussed in the post on Resident Evil Village. Therefore, players seeking a 120FPS experience might need to forego ray tracing features. Notably, among the PS5 Pro-enhanced games we’re aware of so far, this is the first one to reach the 120FPS mark.

In addition to discussing the Resident Evil 4 remake launched in March 2023, Capcom also mentioned that they plan to upgrade it further on the PS5 Pro. The game is said to run at a faster frame rate, although Capcom didn’t clarify the exact frame rate. For reference, the PS5 version of Resident Evil 4 aims for 60FPS, but may not consistently reach this target.
