After facing professional issues at her job in London, the ex-Metropolitan Police detective eventually returned to her beloved Australian hometown, a place she had worked hard to leave behind.

In episode one, I discovered that Mackenzie abandoned Glenn at the altar long ago, opting to embark on a fresh journey overseas instead of establishing roots, which left Glenn shattered and her ostracized in the closely bonded community of Dolphin Cove.
As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but imagine myself in a tale where I am a forensic pathologist named Glenn. There’s a captivating figure in my professional sphere, Mackenzie, whose presence seems to draw me inexorably. The intrigue arises: could this rekindled duo, us, find love again?
In relation to the series plot, James Hall, one of the creators of Return to Paradise, stated: “Since DI Mackenzie Clarke has never truly taken to Dolphin Cove or felt it was her home, she remains an alien in her own environment, much like our other detectives on Death in Paradise, despite being from that very town.
Moreover, her departure from Dolphin Cove some time back has led to a significant amount of dissatisfaction among many residents, as they are not pleased with her return.
Although our primary investigator hails from Australia and appears to be returning home, she remains much like Richard Poole from the initial seasons of Death in Paradise. This is due to her obligation to unravel mysteries in a location she longs to depart from.
