Return to Paradise’s Mackenzie lost for words after she’s blindsided by ex

As a seasoned movie critic with a penchant for British dramas, I must say that “Return to Paradise” has managed to hook me from the very first episode. The character development, particularly Mackenzie Clarke’s, is nothing short of captivating.

Mackenzie Clarke, formerly of Dolphin Cove, felt no urge to revisit her old home town, mainly because she anticipated the chilly welcome that awaited her there.

Prior to departing for London, the detective was all prepared to wed cherished forensic pathologist Glenn Strong, but she’d never quite felt settled in the idyllic seaside town, nor could she connect with the residents. Consequently, she decided to move away – leaving her former spouse behind.

Although many individuals still harbor resentment towards her for leaving Glenn, particularly at a critical juncture, he appears to have softened due to his new relationship with someone else.

In tonight’s episode (29th November), Mack and Glenn were discussing the reason behind Curtis Faleafa’s demise when barkeeper Daisy Dixon strolled into the lab. Upon seeing Mack, she greeted him, then approached Glenn for a quick kiss, before they chatted about their upcoming plans.

To the dismay of the DI, it was unexpectedly discovered that her former partner is now involved with Daisy, leaving her almost speechless upon hearing this astonishing news.

“You could have told me,” she said to Frankie the dog once they were safely outside.

But despite her best efforts to convince herself and Glenn that they “always worked better as friends” and that Daisy is “perfect” for him, there’s clearly still something between the two of them.

As a die-hard movie fan speaking here, I’m super excited about the hints dropped by executive producer Belinda Campbell! She’s been playing coy with a tantalizing “will they/won’t they” situation, so brace yourself for more of that engaging drama in the last four episodes.

Actor Anna Samson expressed that going back to that situation isn’t trivial for her character, and she carries a heavy burden of guilt when she returns home to Glenn following the way their relationship concluded.

I’m grappling with the surge of feelings that returning home stirs within me – familiar locales, recollections, and bonds. Each corner, each memory, seems to echo with a past that’s both comforting and overwhelming.

“She’s trying to push them down, but they have a habit of coming back up, don’t they?”
