Mia Thornton‘s time as a Housewife has come to an end.

The Real Housewives of Potomac star announced she’s leaving the Bravo series ahead of season 10.

In a post on Instagram dated April 21st, Mia announced some exciting news to her followers: “As each new season begins, it’s like a fresh start. I have news – my family and I are planning a move to Atlanta, which means I won’t be returning to The Real Housewives of Potomac for the upcoming season.

The individual who appeared on the reality show from seasons six to nine, now aged 40, expressed, “The last four seasons have been an extraordinary voyage full of growth, insights, and countless cherished moments. I’d like to express my gratitude to Truly Original, Bravo, NBCUniversal, and Andy Cohen for having faith in me and allowing me the opportunity to share my journey. To my fellow cast members: thank you for the laughter, the wisdom, and the unforgettable experiences. And to the wonderful fans, your affection and encouragement have meant the world to me. I’ll forever treasure those feelings.

Mia also teased new projects on the horizon after relocating homes.

She finished off by saying, “The upcoming chapter is bursting with thrilling possibilities, and I can hardly contain my excitement to embark on this journey together.” She continued, “Great events are approaching… ‘I don’t just grab attention — I create History. Atlanta, get ready. The empire has grown. #HistoryInProgress

Indeed, Mia’s departure wasn’t entirely unexpected considering she walked out during the season nine reunion while filming, following her fellow cast members pressing her about discussing her divorce from Gordon Thornton on camera in front of their children, Jeremiah (10) and Juliana (8).

As a lifestyle expert, I must share that when season 10 premieres, it won’t just be Mia’s absence that will be noticeable; Karen Huger will also likely be conspicuously missing. This is because Karen reported to prison in February, serving her one-year sentence following her conviction for driving under the influence after a car crash and subsequent DUI arrest in March 2024.

Although Bravo has not yet made an official announcement about the cast for season 10 of “RHOP”, it is anticipated that Gizelle Bryant, Ashley Darby, Wendy Osefo, Stacey Rusch, and Keiarna Stewart will reappear in some form or another.

This one-season Housewife brought nothing to the Orange County table.

Utah’s second season Housewife, Jennie, ended her tenure with a controversial exit. In January 2022, Jennie was dismissed following the reemergence of past Facebook posts containing offensive racial remarks. Although she later expressed regret and apologies, the harm had already been inflicted.

Her defining trait was “cougar.”

In the first season where I was a devoted follower, Dr. Jen from Orange County was rarely associated with any drama. Her marital issues with her perpetually shirtless husband, who might be named Ryne or perhaps Ryan, didn’t exactly set the stage ablaze. However, one moment that will forever remain etched in my memory is when I, Dr. Jen, got quite tipsy on wine during the Dubrows’ extremely awkward yet undeniably entertaining dinner party.

The initial period for the nurse anesthetist could be encapsulated with a mortifying term, one that we fervently hope to avoid ever hearing again – the infamous “Esophagus Incident.

As an ardent fan, I must confess, Katie would often gush about her philanthropic endeavors, yet on-screen, it seemed she was merely a fleeting presence – a flash in the pan, if you will. She’d join the cast, only to offer minimal input, and then disappear without much of a trace as a friend. Cutting the cast trip short? That’s a definite no-no for any Housewife!

In my expert opinion, during the two seasons I served as a Housewife, my marital struggles became quite public – that, alongside the infamous champagne room, are the two moments people often remember when reflecting on Charrisse’s journey.

A one-and-done Housewife, Shamari was at least fun?

In the twelfth season, Peggy, who added a touch of diversity to the previously all-white Orange County, turned out to be a perplexing character. The disputes she initiated were peculiar, frequently revolving around misunderstandings of words that others casually used. Her actions during the Iceland trip, where she opted to seclude herself in her room for an entire day, demonstrated that she might not have been well-suited for the Real Housewives lifestyle.

During my debut season, instead of forging a connection with my Nigerian co-star Wendy Osefo as I had hoped, our storyline primarily revolved around an allegation I supposedly made against her mother, believing she was a witch – believe it or not! It’s such a shame that we didn’t get the chance to connect over our shared heritage and celebrate our Nigerian roots instead of engaging in conflicts without any resolution.

In season 16, Noella whirled about as a whirlwind of frenetic enthusiasm. Although her private hardships (her husband James departing the country and filing for divorce just before filming began) were somewhat intriguing, it was her ongoing strife with Heather Dubrow that prevented her from sinking to the very bottom. With additional time and another season, we may grow fonder of Mrs. Bergener.

In her debut season, she was known for maintaining peace, but by her final season, she transitioned to constant complaints about a discarded cake and baseless accusations of anti-Semitism. It’s hard to recall a faster decline in reputation on “Real Housewives” than what we witnessed with her.

It appeared that everything Amber and her spouse, Jim, undertook had an air of urgency or desperation about it. Additionally, it seemed Jim found himself more entangled in the drama compared to Amber, which didn’t exactly paint them in a positive light.

The only thing we recall about Karen is that she was a dentist, and it appeared as if none of her colleagues had a fondness for her whatsoever. Onward!

This was a real person with a show on Bravo. We promise.

Among the relatively short-lived cast members on RHONY, Jules’ stint was too limited for a top spot. Yet, she certainly provided an ample amount of excitement and drama during her time.

So unnecessary they couldn’t even get individual taglines.

Similar to Sara Al Madani, Nina embodied a multi-faceted, accomplished woman of Arab descent who skillfully merged contemporary lifestyle with age-old cultural customs. She managed to steer clear of the majority of the first season’s drama and at times found herself overshadowed by her co-stars whose more prominent personalities took center stage.

Taleen proved to be a pleasant newcomer during the second season of RHODubai, however, with just one season’s worth of episodes, it’s difficult to make a definitive assessment of her performance.

For seasons 11 and 12 on “America’s Next Top Model,” the veteran contestant carried a peach, but didn’t leave a lasting impact in the realm of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” beyond being pregnant for a significant portion of her time there. However, she did score points with that memorable takedown of Marlo Hampton during their stay in Tokyo.

As is customary, we often need to observe multiple seasons before ranking a new Housewife higher on our list. However, Katie made an impressive debut during the 18th season of RHOC, going head-to-head with veteran Housewife Heather Dubrow right from the start. It takes courage for a woman to challenge someone as high-society as Ms. Fancypants.

Sara’s consistently optimistic and insightful perspective on life was generally delightful, yet lacked the usual dose of drama (with the exception of when she gave Caroline Brooks some less-than-appreciated parenting advice). Nevertheless, this tech entrepreneur significantly broke down barriers regarding the representation of contemporary Muslim women in the Middle East, and for that, we commend her.

The newcomers on the 13th season of RHONJ seem to embody the stereotypical Jersey Housewife and engaged in a prolonged, seemingly purposeless disagreement throughout the season, which Andy Cohen deemed insignificant during the reunion. Sadly, they didn’t add much more depth to their dynamic during season 14.

In the initial season, Larsa didn’t create a significant impact prior to departing the show. When Netflix rebooted RHOM for its fourth season in 2021, her entire plotline revolved around her past friendship with Kim Kardashian and her involvement with OnlyFans (specifically selling foot photos on it…).

After my brief stint as a Bravolebrity, I decided to test my culinary skills further and participated in season 12 of ‘Next Food Network Star’ in the year 2016. Regrettably, I didn’t manage to secure a spot in that competition as well.

Sadly, she often seemed to serve as Brandi Glanville’s scapegoat. Additionally, her motto glorifying the idea that one can never be too thin was distasteful and unappealing.
