Bronwyn Newport‘s motherhood journey has been anything but easy.
During the October 16th episode of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” one of the stars revealed the tragic tale of her daughter’s father leaving her behind when she became pregnant as a teenager while studying at Brigham Young University. This heart-wrenching story unfolded on the Bravo series.
Brownwyn shared in a private moment, “I became pregnant with Gwen when I was 19 and about to turn 20. Unfortunately, the biological father wasn’t part of our lives, and he passed away soon after Gwen turned 2 years old.
On a relaxing spa day with co-star Lisa Barlow, who surprisingly discovered they were quite friendly with his parents, Bronwyn revealed that his family had distanced themselves due to her pregnancy.
She confided in Lisa that the discussion with them wasn’t enjoyable, “I accepted more than my fair share of blame during our talk, and I won’t repeat those words, but you can understand their meaning. To put it simply, they didn’t offer support. Instead, what I experienced was emotional pain. In hindsight, I believe they wished I had been honest about doing a study abroad, kept my pregnancy secret, and arranged for the baby to be adopted without discussing it with them.
When Lisa inquired, “Were they straightforward about it?”, Bronwyn gave an affirmative nod.
Bronwyn mentioned, ‘I understood that it would be up to me alone to handle this.’ I believe he chose not to get involved in this matter.
Although Bronwyn acknowledged that her Mormon family felt awkward about the pregnancy, her ex’s parents made her feel incredibly guilty, worthless, and ashamed.
18 years have passed since then, but Gwen hasn’t maintained any connection with her paternal grandparents, not even following her father’s unfortunate demise.
Bronwyn mentioned that when Gwen was around 1.5 to 2 years old, she discovered something on Facebook: someone had posted a comment and shared a photo of Gwen’s father on an obituary,” or simply, “Bronwyn remembered finding out about Gwen’s dad’s passing when she saw a comment on his obituary picture on Facebook.
It came as a shock when Lisa admitted that she had consoled his parents during his passing, and moreover, she has lately attempted to establish a rapport between his mother and both Gwen and Bronwyn.
Lisa recounted the conversation: “‘What are our odds?’ I asked, to which she replied, ‘It’s now.’ She seemed to convey some regret and pain. They expressed, ‘We yearn to be in Gwen’s life, and she desires the same, we truly desire it.’
