Richard Armitage confirms he’s planning third book as he opens up on writing

As a film enthusiast with a penchant for unraveling intricate narratives and a soft spot for versatile actors, Richard Armitage‘s latest endeavor into the world of literature leaves me utterly thrilled. His journey from the silver screen to the written page is a testament to his versatility as an artist.

As a dedicated cinephile, I’m thrilled to share my latest professional endeavor that unfolds post the unveiling of my newest audiobook, The Cut. Here’s a sneak peek into the exciting journey that lies ahead!

After releasing the suspenseful crime thriller “Geneva” in 2023, Armitage is making his comeback to the literary sphere with another book, and he’s even mapping out plans for a third one!

In the latest installment of the Waitrose Dish podcast, Armitage engaged in conversation with hosts Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, delving into the story of how he began authoring his own books.

He shared: “Audible approached me suggesting, ‘I believe our algorithm may have flagged something interesting,’ implying these were potential authors, his target audience, and the genres of programs he’s involved in – is it worth considering a writing project based on this combination of factors?

Afterwards, he was questioned whether he’d be interested in penning a book, to which he responded affirmatively right away. However, he confessed that he had concerns about composing something extensive.

He explained that he broke down the process into stages, shared a draft of his ideas, and collaborated with an editor. This approach was successfully used for “Geneva,” which performed well, and later moved on to printing. Now, they’ve repeated this method for “The Cut.

In a secluded hamlet, a cold-case murder resurfaces as a Tinseltown production starts shooting, and you can immerse yourself in this intriguing tale right away by listening to “The Cut” on Audible.

Contrary to his initial concerns, Armitage’s efforts have yielded success with both books, and he has disclosed that there is a third one currently under development.

Regarding his ability to write, Armitage put it this way: “I believe my experience of working extensively in long-form television for quite some time has given me insights into the structure of shows, how to build suspense, when and how to climax, and how to end a piece without being deceitful or overly reliant on coincidences.

I really enjoy delving into these topics and figuring them out. The second time around, I found that I could express my thoughts and beliefs freely without having to write a full autobiography. Instead, I can casually incorporate some personal philosophies and political views, all neatly packed together like an M&M.

Describing the process as “thrilling”, Armitage revealed: “I’m sort of planning a third.”
