Having grown up watching his iconic films like E.T., Jurassic Park, and Schindler’s List, it’s a thrill to see him involved in a new project, especially one that promises an exciting blend of mystery and drama.


Richard Osman shared insights into Steven Spielberg’s latest stop at the set for Netflix’s movie version of his enigmatic novel, The Thursday Murder Club.

Last week, the esteemed movie creator popped in, since his joint venture, Amblin Entertainment, is responsible for the big-screen adaptation of the top-selling novel.

On the most recent installment of his podcast, The Rest Is Entertainment, Osman vividly remembered the thrilling experience he had and shared how Steven Spielberg exuded an “extraordinary aura” that captivated everyone present during filming that day.

He shared that there are some individuals you encounter who leave you thinking, “Wow, you’re Steven Spielberg!”, and this was his experience as well. It was heartwarming to see that even the other actors seemed thrilled to be in his presence.

“Although I won’t repeat the exact words, it was touching to overhear Sir Ben Kingsley discussing Schindler’s List with someone, sharing their experiences and evident admiration for Steven Spielberg. The conversation was truly captivating.”

Osman further elaborated that all the performers and background artists were brimming with anticipation upon catching sight of Spielberg, a good friend of both Harry Potter and The Thursday Murder Club’s director, Chris Columbus.

Osman added, “They truly cherish one another. He was absolutely wonderful, like a dream come true. The weather was perfect – bright and sunny, just as you’d hope.”

In wrapping up their conversation, the ex-co-host of Pointless disclosed a personal meeting he had with Spielberg. During this encounter, he succinctly thanked the esteemed filmmaker for his immense impact on the world of cinema.

Osman remarked, “At last, I managed to express, ‘Thank you for all you do, and the happiness you’ve spread across the globe.’ I chose to stop there. I believe my gratitude has already been conveyed with a simple ‘thank you.'”

“Reflecting on all the amusement he’s provided, the happiness he’s given, the tales he’s shared, and the emotions he’s stirred within us, it feels great to be in a position where we can greet him, extend our hand, and express our gratitude.”

The distinguished ensemble of The Thursday Murder Club includes actors like Kingsley, Dame Helen Mirren, Celia Imrie, Pierce Brosnan, David Tennant, Tom Ellis, Naomi Ackie, Jonathan Pryce, and Richard E Grant.
