Richard Simmons Dead at 76

As a huge fan of Richard Simmons, I’m deeply saddened to hear about his passing. This energetic and inspiring fitness icon touched the lives of millions with his health-forward persona. Born in 1948, Simmons started his career after founding Slimmons gym in Beverly Hills. His incredible weight loss journey from obesity to a fit and healthy lifestyle motivated him to help others on their fitness journeys as well.

Richard Simmons, the well-known television figure celebrated for his dynamic approach to health and fitness, has passed away. TMZ announced this tragic news on Saturday, reporting that emergency services were summoned to Simmons’ home around 10 a.m. local time following a discovery of an unresponsive Simmons by a housekeeper. Authorities arrived at the scene and unfortunately pronounced him dead. No signs of foul play have been detected; however, no definitive cause of death has been disclosed as of yet. Simmons was 76 years old.

Simmons, born in 1948, began his professional journey by establishing Slimmons gym in Beverly Hills following years of battling obesity during his young adulthood. Having successfully lost over 123 pounds himself, he became passionate about assisting others in their fitness transformations. Through his unique personality, Simmons expanded his gyms into a thriving franchise encompassing workout videos, audio cassettes, and cookbooks.

Why did Richard Simmons retreat from the public eye?

Since 2014, Simmons has mostly withdrawn from the limelight due to the pressures of Hollywood. Previously active on Facebook, his last update was a disclaimer distancing himself from Pauly Shore’s unauthorized biopic.

Hello everyone, there have been rumors circulating that Pauly Shore is set to make a movie based on my life without my approval. rest assured, this isn’t true. Currently, I don’t have a manager or publicist representing me, and I prefer living a low-key existence. Your kindness and support mean the world to me. – Richard

As a passionate gamer, I’ve shared my unique film concept with Shore, and he’s made it clear that it stems from a positive and enthusiastic perspective. He’s committed to continuing his quest in securing financing for this exciting project.

Shore expressed at the Sundance Film Festival in late January that his intentions have always been rooted in love, not vindictiveness. He clarified, “I’m not about making fun of someone or being Borat. Instead, it’s about appreciating and celebrating. Unauthorized biopics are common, and we want Richard to bless this project with his approval. We respect his privacy and don’t wish to disturb him. Our goal is to honor him and acknowledge the incredible work he has done. Leonardo DiCaprio will not portray Richard Simmons in the film – I am more suited for that role.”

As a gamer, I can empathize deeply with his situation. In the interview, he mentioned how isolated and alone he feels, having no close friends or family around. That resonates with me strongly; my parents have passed away, and my relationship with my siblings isn’t great. Marriage isn’t in the cards for me yet, and when I’m on tour, it’s a whirlwind of activity in America. Coming home only amplifies that feeling of solitude. I see so much of myself in him. It’s as if there’s an uncanny resemblance between us.
