Following the massive success of Ridley Scott‘s Gladiator II, amassing $461m at the box office, the acclaimed director has now shifted his focus towards his next project, titled ‘The Dog Stars’. Expected to start production in Italy by the end of April, this film is an adaptation of Peter Heller’s 2012 novel. The screenplay for ‘The Dog Stars’ has been penned by Mark L. Smith, known for his work on “Twisters”. Ridley Scott has assembled a star-studded cast for this new production, with Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, and Guy Pearce joining forces alongside Jacob Elordi, who was recently added to the roster in January after Paul Mescal had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts.
The narrative unfolds in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a devastating flu pandemic that decimated most of mankind. It centers around a pilot character named Hig (Elordi) who forms an alliance with a surly marksman (Brolin), as they strive to survive against a marauding group of looters. In this adventure, we encounter Cima (Qualley), a youthful physician and the daughter of a disillusioned rancher (Pearce), whom Hig comes across during his travels.
At the ripe age of 87, Ridley Scott shows no signs of slowing down; his Bee Gees biopic is set for production in the near future.
