Rikishi Blasts WWE's Jey Uso Booking, Suggests Defection to AEW

As a die-hard WWE fan with a deep appreciation for the history of Samoan wrestling, I find myself deeply invested in Jey Uso’s journey. Having grown up watching his father, Rikishi, and uncles, The Rock and Roman Reigns, grace the squared circle, I can truly appreciate the legacy that Jey is trying to build for himself.

As a diehard fan, I’m thrilled to acknowledge that Jey Uso has undeniably established himself as a genuine solo superstar! The Yeet Man’s meteoric rise truly took shape towards the end of 2023 when he parted ways with The Bloodline and joined the Monday Night Raw roster. Since then, he’s been showcasing his unique babyface persona, which has spread like wildfire among the WWE audience, earning him some of the most thunderous reactions on both weekly TV broadcasts and monthly pay-per-view events.

In the midst of a boisterous response from the crowd at WWE Backlash, Jey unfortunately fell short against Damian Priest in the title match. After this, Jey has only participated in one premium live event fight, which was for the Men’s Money in the Bank briefcase at WWE Money in the Bank in July. It was Drew McIntyre who eventually won that contest, but his cash-in attempt failed less than an hour later.

Papa Uso is not happy with his son’s current direction in WWE.

On the podcast “Off The Top Rope”, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi criticized WWE for the way they’ve scheduled Jey Uso, claiming that despite his strong fan support – as indicated by crowd reactions and merchandise sales – his role within the company does not seem to reflect this.

Rikishi expressed curiosity about the tasks assigned to a particular young talent. He noted that the performer makes an impressive entrance, demonstrating high fan engagement. However, when it comes to offering business opportunities, Rikishi questioned why his son wasn’t considered for the Money in the Bank event, given that the winner is nowhere to be found. Rikishi wondered about the company’s logic behind passing up on a chance to involve such an exciting and reliable performer who consistently delivers, causing minimal risk to their business.

Later on, Rikishi proposed a scenario where Jey could be involved in the WWE Intercontinental Championship or WWE World Heavyweight Championship narratives, yet up until now, neither plan has materialized.

Rikishi expressed his sentiment by saying, “I really feel like I should encourage my son to take a moment’s rest. It seems the writers aren’t sure how to utilize him effectively. The truth is, WWE is profiting from The Yeet Man, and he’s earning money too. But unlike The Yeet Man, this kid is working for his income. Why aren’t they capitalizing on this talent and letting him shine? I hope WWE recognizes his potential and takes appropriate action.”

If the situation doesn’t improve for Jey, Rikishi advised his son to consider alternative paths. Particularly, he mentioned All Elite Wrestling (AEW) as a potential destination in the future.

According to Rikishi, the young talent is exceptional and could find success beyond just WWE. He might even have a better opportunity at AEW if he desires to chart his own course, possibly earning more than what WWE currently offers him. Rikishi hopes they make the right decision for “The Yeet Man” and turn things around for the better.
