Are you aware of the number of sandy hills and ponds scattered throughout Shatterscarp? There are quite a few. That’s why the treasure map for the Robe of the Arcane Cheater in Avowed can be incredibly frustrating, as it feels like searching for a single needle in a large stack of hay. However, once you locate the spot where it’s hidden, reaching it is surprisingly simple, and your efforts will be rewarded with an excellent mage armor set.
To obtain the treasure map and solve it on your own, head to Ihaka at The Thrifty Pig, located within a cave west of Tago’s Tower in Shark’s Teeth, Shatterscarp. It will cost you 1680 coins. However, keep in mind that you don’t necessarily need the map to collect the rewards.
Robe of the Arcane Cheater treasure map solution
In my gaming adventure, nestled within a secluded cave overlooking a tranquil oasis smack dab in the heart of an ancient lakebed, southwest of Shatterscarp’s towering cliffs, I stumbled upon the elusive Robe of the Arcane Cheater. This hidden treasure is just a stone’s throw away from Eagle’s Reach camp, your first stop within this intriguing zone.
By chance, there’s a fugitive with a reward on their head hiding in this oasis as well. You’ll need to eliminate them first for safety reasons before you can open the treasure chest. I accomplished this task prior to discovering that there was secret treasure hidden within the rocks above, so at least you can work more effectively now.
To reach this location:
- Travel to the Eagle’s Reach camp and head down the path to the southeast
- Once you reach the Ancient Lakebed at the bottom of the hill, continue straight on to find a small body of water surrounded by a wall of rocks (you can just about see the cave opening from the base of the hill)
- Climb the short hill up to the left of the water and turn right to walk on the rocks overlooking the water
- Drop off the ledge and enter the nook to find the treasure chest
Obtaining the treasure called “Robe of the Arcane Cheater” awards you the “Radiant Robes of Exceptional Wit,” which amplify area damage by 15% and boost your essence capacity by 10. However, they won’t assist in acing any tests (the previous owner didn’t exactly excel either). Nevertheless, these robes are tailor-made for mages. I personally use them in combination with “Missile Salvo” and “Meteor Shower” to obliterate my adversaries with devastating force.
