Crikey! Dancing With the Stars just announced their first season 34 cast member.
The wildlife conservationist, Robert Irwin, who is the offspring of the late Steve Irwin and Terri Irwin, has been announced as a contestant in the forthcoming season of the ABC competition show.
Moreover, at the age of 21, he’s swapping his well-known khaki uniform for dance clothes, but he isn’t the first in his family to grace the dance floor on this show. In fact, his sister, Bindi Irwin, was the victor of the Mirrorball Trophy in the year 2015 during season 21, partnering with Derek Hough. Achievement that she still finds hard to believe.
In a shared May 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Bindi (mother of Grace Warrior Irwin Powell, aged 4, with her husband Chandler Powell) expressed that the reality of the situation hasn’t fully sunk in. She conveyed to her brother and mother, “I believe you two would be amazed at how well you’d adapt.
In a potentially indicative action suggesting his future plans, Robert openly expressed his interest and further stated, “I might just try it out. Absolutely, I’d be willing to give it a shot. I would indeed do it.
As a dedicated follower, I’m not the only one on DWTS who made their dream a reality. Just like me, dance pro Rylee Arnold, who came in fourth with gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik during season 33, also sent her aspirations of having Robert on the show out into the universe.
19-year-old stated on Entertainment Tonight in May that his sister Bindi had been a part of the show. He recalled watching her perform when he was just 8 years old and thinking, “Robert’s about my age.” His wish was that Robert would appear on the show at least once, since he was so close to him in age.
She added, “Guys, let’s all manifest it together.”
The rest of the season 34 cast will be announced at a later date.
Although Robert was excited about being part of the “Dancing With the Stars” lineup, it appears that some celebrities have declined the invitation. Stick around as we reveal who has chosen to pass on the program.
After years of being unavailable due to his commitments with the Backstreet Boys, Nick Carter was finally able to demonstrate his skills during season 21. In an interview with TopMob News, he explained, “I’ve been asked for about 4 to 5 years straight, but unfortunately, or fortunately, I was on tour and releasing albums with the Backstreet Boys. Now that I have some free time between projects, I could seize this opportunity.
Bindi Irwin, an Australian TV personality who is the daughter of the late wildlife expert Steve Irwin, made her appearance in season 21. Interestingly enough, this wasn’t her first time receiving an invitation to dance. As she shared with TopMob News, “I was asked once before and I exclaimed, ‘Oh my goodness!’ We were right in the midst of our crocodile research and things were hectic, so it turned out perfectly that we could join this season. I’m overjoyed to be a part of it.
Following her daughter Rumer Willis’ victory during season 20 of Dancing with the Stars, with her mother present for nearly all tapings, Moore came very near to being part of the season 21 lineup, according to TopMob News sources; however, she ultimately declined the invitation.
Previously victorious performer Alfonso Ribeiro shared with TopMob News that the show was considering inviting the star of “I Am Cait,” reality TV personality, to compete for the trophy. However, she declined, opting not to join the path taken by Kim Kardashian and her brother Rob Kardashian in participating on the show.
The Mean Girls star was reportedly approached to do the show back in season 16 but said no.
As a lifestyle connoisseur looking back, I must share an intriguing tidbit about a well-known celebrity chef. You might recall hearing from TopMob News that this charismatic figure initially declined the opportunity to dance not once, but twice before ultimately joining the cast in season 21. It’s fascinating how things can change, isn’t it?
“They did ask me,” she told Extra in 2010, “and I said no.”
Despite some of her former “Saved By the Bell” cast members having participated, Thiessen chose not to take part in “Dancing with the Stars”. In an interview with The Huffington Post, she stated, “I’ve been asked several times, but I see myself as an actor, not a dancer.
Paula Deen isn’t the only well-known chef who has been approached for Dancing with the Stars; Flay also rejected the offer. In the past, he mentioned that he didn’t want to be recognized as the star of Dancing with the Stars. Another reason for his refusal was a warning from his wife: she threatened to divorce him if he participated in the show. (It’s worth noting that he and his ex-wife, Stephanie March, have since parted ways.)
While sources told TopMob he said no to DWTS, he said yes to appearing on Celebrity Apprentice.
Initially turning down Dancing with the Stars, the now-deceased actress who eventually captivated audiences with her ballroom performances, initially expressed her reluctance by stating on Twitter that she was too afraid.
The co-host of CBS This Morning and close friend of Oprah Winfrey declined the invitation to appear on the show not just once or twice, but a total of three times. In an interview with US Weekly, she explained her reasoning: “I prefer to limit my public embarrassment.” She continued, expressing that she wouldn’t want to put her children or herself in such a situation, and added humorously, “I can’t dance.
The producers of DWTS reached out to Alfonso for a favor regarding the invitation to appear on the show for the NYPD Blue star. Unfortunately, their attempt was unsuccessful as Ribeiro told TopMob News that his friend had declined, stating, “Nah, I don’t dance!
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I can share that an Oscar-winning icon has publicly sworn off appearing on the show. However, in a candid interview with TopMob News, she hinted at a potential change of heart under specific circumstances. In her own words, “Here’s how I would participate in Dancing With the Stars: If they offered me a million dollars for charity, that would be my condition. My involvement would only be possible if there was a significant charitable aspect to it.
In 2011, Queen Latifah clarified that there was no truth to the rumors about her participating in “Dancing With the Stars.” Yet, she expressed her affection for the program and mentioned that she would be tuning in, just like everyone else. Interestingly, she has indeed performed as a guest on the show later on.
