Actor Ryan Hawley from Emmerdale has stated that he’s returning permanently, following the shocking comeback of his character Robert Sugden earlier this week.

The actor stopped appearing on the ITV soap following the imprisonment of Robert, who was jailed for murdering his sister Victoria’s rapist, Lee Posner, in 2019.

However, during the episode broadcasted on Wednesday, 28th May, the ITV soap opera presented a major surprise when Robert returned to the Dales following a six-year absence, crashing the nuptials of his former spouse Aaron Dingle and his half-brother John Sugden.

Previously, there were whispers about Hawley’s temporary return to the series, but he himself clarified to The Mirror that Ryan’s comeback is now permanent.

As a devoted movie-goer, I can’t help but wonder if there’s more to the story surrounding Aaron’s tragic situation. Last month, it was revealed that his fiancé John was involved in the death of Nate Robinson. The chilling detail is that John allegedly disposed of Nate’s body in a lake. Could it be possible that Robert, someone close to them, knows something about these heinous crimes?

Regarding Robert’s comeback, Hawley stated: “Wherever Robert appears, trouble follows. However, this time, he intends to prevent the wedding – and though it promises turmoil, it is the appropriate action since we are aware that John is not suitable for Aaron.

During a chat with Digital Spy, Hawley revealed some exciting news: “Robert is back after six long years! A lot has transpired in the village and for Robert during this period. We see two contrasting worlds – the village and Robert’s experiences in prison. And quite unexpectedly, just as Aaron was getting married to John, Robert suddenly appears.

He went on to say: “It prepares an extraordinary series of episodes to conclude the wedding week, revealing how the situation with Robert reappearing will be handled. It presents a tremendous predicament for Aaron, as he has discovered John as a new romantic interest, only to have Robert, his former love, return!

I commented: “He’s facing a significant choice ahead. It seems like the burden of it all rests on Aaron’s shoulders. I wonder if Robert is there for some other reason, could he have hidden agendas, does he possess information about John? How on earth did he come to know about this wedding in the first place?

Over the coming evenings, there’s plenty to delve into and many secrets yet to be unfolded. These upcoming episodes promise to be fascinating, and I can hardly wait to watch them!
