After taking a break from producing fresh episodes for some years, the stop-motion animated show Robot Chicken is set to return on Adult Swim to commemorate its significant 20th anniversary. This series initially premiered with Adult Swim on February 20th, 2005 and soon became one of the most acclaimed programs in the network’s history. By creatively reimagining iconic characters from the ’80s and ’90s through its parody skits, Robot Chicken garnered immense popularity, ultimately running for 11 seasons filled with endless new sketches and jokes.
Although Robot Chicken wrapped up its Season 11 in 2022, it’s making a grand return to mark its 20th anniversary! Adult Swim has confirmed that there will be a fresh new special for the occasion, set to air this Summer. Robot Chicken 20th Anniversary Special Coming This Summer
In honor of its 20th anniversary (as mentioned in a press statement), the animated series “Robot Chicken” is coming back with a new special that satirizes several reality shows owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. Named “The Robot Chicken Self-Discovery Special,” this upcoming installment promises to target Discovery, Food Network, and TLC. The story follows the clumsy Robot Chicken Nerd who embarks on a journey of self-discovery in typical American fashion: participating in reality shows. Fans can expect to see the Nerd either finding a partner from 90 Day Fiancé or becoming Shark Week’s prey!
20 years have passed since Seth Green and Matthew Senreich embarked on their journey to create a humorous and unpredictable show, and they’re still going strong with their toy-based sketch comedy. In an official statement, the duo reminisced about their journey, saying, “Twenty years ago, we aimed to make a show that would entertain us. Somehow, we’ve managed to keep going all these years. We’re excited about our latest special, and it might just leave a little something on your head – but don’t worry, in our world, that’s considered good luck!” Essentially, they thanked their fans for their continued support and hinted at great things coming up in the new special.
Robot Chicken Celebrates 20 Years With Adult Swim
Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen expressed his enthusiasm about the upcoming 20th anniversary special of “Robot Chicken”, stating, “For two decades, this show has been innovatively blending comedy and animation in a way that’s never been seen before. Adult Swim is pulling out all the stops for the event as the animated series, Robot Chicken, has been airing episodes every weeknight throughout February. In fact, they’re presenting a late-night double episode from Monday through Thursday starting at 12:30am Eastern/Pacific Time, and even some of the Robot Chicken specials that have been released over the years will be shown on Sundays at 1:00am Eastern/Pacific Time.
