Emmerdale hints at a possible future reconciliation between characters Robert Sugden, played by Ryan Hawley, and Aaron Dingle, portrayed by Danny Miller. However, it seems their path to romance might be a lengthy journey.
Aaron disguised his plans for a prison visit with Robert, telling his newlywed spouse John (Oliver Farnworth) that he was going to work instead.
In simpler terms, John, who shares the same father as Robert but has a different mother, conveyed to their shared sibling Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) that he believed Aaron was planning to meet Robert. Later on, Victoria disclosed that she had persuaded Aaron to make the visit.
Meanwhile, John felt disheartened about his recent twelve-day union, as Aaron met up with Robert in the prison. The atmosphere turned tense when Robert mentioned the passing of Aaron’s sister, Liv (played by Isobel Steele).
Aaron didn’t find it convincing when Robert brought up a touchy topic as a way to reconnect, yet Robert subtly hinted at their shared past by mentioning that he too had cared for Liv.
When Aaron mentioned that Robert hadn’t reached out following Liv’s demise, Robert offered an apology, stating he didn’t want to intensify Aaron’s sorrow by doing so.
As a dedicated cinephile, I can’t help but reminisce about the joyous moments shared with Liv during our family years. It was when she became part of our household, moving in with Aaron as a teen, that both he and I played pivotal roles in her upbringing.
The discussion shifted direction as Robert expressed his suspicion that John might have turned him in for violating his probation conditions. Remarkably, it was revealed by Aaron that he, in fact, made the call to the authorities.
Surprised, Robert queried the reason, and Aaron admitted that he felt it was essential for Robert to keep a considerable distance, so as to resist temptation.
Aaron realized that if Robert was around, it was likely he’d approach him, leaving yet more chaos behind them.
Robert swore he would always stay by Aaron from now on, yet Aaron mentioned he had opted for John instead, questioning whether Robert truly cared for him.
“Forever,” Robert replied.
With that, Aaron urged Robert to stay away, and a devastated Robert agreed to do so.
However, with Aaron’s eyes brimming with tears, it was clear that, at a deeper level, he didn’t fully commit to this choice.
In the meantime, John shared his plan with Vic, after which they were observed seated in the visiting room together with Robert.
John simmered with anger as Robert mentioned their deceased father, Jack (Clive Hornby), revealed his recent kiss with Aaron, and labeled John as peculiar.
Soon, I warned Robert to tread carefully, hinting darkly that “If I felt like claiming your life, I easily could do so.”
I made it clear to Robert that he needed to be more cautious, subtly suggesting that “If I wanted to end your life, I could do it effortlessly.
As a cinephile, I affirmed my intention to honor Aaron’s desires by keeping my distance from the quaint little village.
Now, however, his determination was unwavering – he had to return home immediately to reveal the true nature of John to Aaron. John, it seems, is much more deceitful and dangerous than Robert currently understands.
Aaron, meanwhile, was given a pep talk by Vic, who updated him on John’s whereabouts.
However, as Aaron intended to reconcile with John, he pulled out his wallet, revealing a picture inside of him with Liv.
Peering closer at the photo, Robert was discovered concealed among the others. Aaron, as if finalizing his decision, tore apart the picture of Robert and tossed it into the trash.
Even though Aaron’s words might suggest otherwise, it was clear from his expression that his affection for Robert remained deeply rooted.
Will the path back to true love be rocky? Always. But we have no doubt that ‘Robron’ will make it.
The question poses two scenarios: First, how will John handle the disclosure of the kiss, and secondly, is it possible for Robert to expose his wicked brother?
