Ahead of the upcoming release next week, Robson Green assures fans that they’ll be left guessing with his latest 5-part drama, titled “The Game,” co-starring Jason Watkins.
The premiere of this series is set for Monday, May 12th at 9 PM on channel 5. The entire four-episode series will be aired nightly from Monday to Thursday, with the final episode airing on Thursday, May 15th.
The “cat and mouse thriller” revolves around ex-detective Huw Miller (Watkins), who grows suspicious that his neighbor, Patrick Harbottle (Green), might be the infamous Ripton Stalker – a serial killer whom he was unable to apprehend in an unsolved case that has haunted him ever since.
As they draw nearer and gain a deeper understanding of one another, numerous intense instances arise between them, as demonstrated in an exclusive sneak peek shared with TopMob readers the day prior.
Apart from Miller, it’s also up to viewers to try and solve the mystery, as hinted by Green during an interview on The One Show.
The story revolves around a former detective, brilliantly portrayed by Jason Watkins, who strongly suspects that their new neighbor, Patrick Harbottle, is a serial killer that he couldn’t apprehend in the past. This sets off a captivating game of psychological cat-and-mouse, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats, trying to figure out the truth.
As a cinephile, I can’t help but ponder about my brand-new neighbor, Patrick Harbottle. Could he be merely a charismatic fellow or perhaps a master of deception, a pathological liar? Is there a sinister side to him, where he torments people mentally before taking their lives with a veneer of kindness? The plot thickens.

He mentioned, “It spans across more than four evenings, and let me assure you, it’s bound to leave viewers puzzled. The ensemble is outstanding, and Jason is among my top picks as an actor. Filming it was a delightful experience. We shot it in Spain, and I must say, it was truly enjoyable.
Over the years, Green has played numerous beloved characters, yet he expressed his enthusiasm about embracing a unique task in The Game and collaborating with Watkins.
He expressed his enjoyment in being given the opportunity to convincingly feign sincerity. Pretending sincerity requires understanding authenticity. He enjoys putting on a charismatic act, but he also enjoys keeping people intrigued and guessing constantly.
Working with the talented Jason Watkins is truly a privilege; he’s one of my favorite actors. As you watch this production, you find yourself questioning whether the featured couple will fall apart, as their relationship strains both their marriage and his personal life. This tension slowly starts to unfurl throughout the piece.
I found pleasure in pretending to be sincere, too. It was entertaining to do so. That’s what initially drew me to it.
